Star player for 2001

OK, the preseason shit starts next month, so we are getting close to the best time year...footy season. It's time for some intelligent topics on the forum.

BUT THIS AIN"T ONE OF THEM

Who do you think will be the star performer for 2001? and who will be star for you team?

My pick for both would be THE BIG SAV. Talk around North is that he has been training the house down, and has shed kilos off his mammoth frame. I think with Carey taking the best defender, THE BIG SAV is going to have his best season ever at FF.

I think from each club the stars will be:

Adelaide: Bryan Beinke
Brisbane: Des Headland
Carlton: Ang Christou
Collingwood: Scott Burns
Essendon: Dean Wallis
Fremantle: James Walker
Geelong: Glenn Kilpatrick
Hawthorn: Kris Barlow
Kangaroos: David Calthorpe
Melbourne: Anthony Ingerson
Port Power: Fabian Francis (already a Champion *lol*)
Richmond: Jason Torney
St Kilda: Stewart Leowe
Sydney: Steve Tingay
West Coast: Andrew Donnelly (Oh No he is already a Champion)

In fact if any of these players come in the top six in their respective B&F's I will complete a suitable challenge.

And there are some chances according to you scribes out there:

ie Burns, Francis, Donnelly

In fact I would be willing to bet that all of these players will form part of the "Elmer Fud All Stars come the end of the year"

Cheers

They were all tongue in cheek mate.

I don't rate any of the above mentioned players for any number of reasons.

So it was a little dose of sarcasm and I agree with the assessment on HAselby, although I have my doubts on Longmuir

I sought of know they were all a joke, duh!
But i picked Walker particularly as i think he won't get as far as the others.

Here's mine :

Adelaide : Mark Riccuito
Brisbane : Mal Michael
Carlton : Andrew McKay
Collingwood : Chris Tarrant
Essendon : Blake Caracella
Fremantle : Adian Fletcher
Geelong : Brett Spinks
Hawthorn : Nathan Thompson
Kangaroos : Anthony Stevens
Melbourne : Jeff White
Port Adelaide : Matthew Primus
Richmond : Royce Vardy
Saint Kilda : Stephen Lawrence
Sydney : Paul Kelly
West Coast Eagles : David Wirrapunda
Western Bulldogs : Nathan Eagleton

just a word on my own club - for the first time in 2.5 years Paul Kelly is fully fit, training hard and raring to go. Expect a massive contribution from him in 2001. Probably even over and above what we are used to seeing from him.

cheers

For West Coast it will Michael Braun. He will be back from injury and return to the form of 1999 when he blitzed every player who challenged him.

I guess star performer means your choice for Brownlow.
1) Simon Black
2) Nathan Buckley (cos theres no-0ne else togive points to in the side)
3) David Wirrapunda

Team
1) David Wirrapunda
2) Ben Cousins
3) Michael Braun

Not only will SAV be the superstar of season 2001, he will win the Coleman Medal (about 120 goals), the Brownlow Medal and the Norm Smith Medal. Give him the Michael Tuck Medal as well.

GO SAV!!
GO ROOS!!

I think the star players for Carlton this season will be the usual suspects: McKay, Ratten, Camporeale, Whitnall. Also expect Mark Porter, Scott Freeborn and Ang Christou (yes, I'm serious) to have great seasons. Out of the whole league, I'd love to say Kouta but I dunno how well he'll do this season, as he's recovering from a serious knee injury. Probably someone like Buckley will do well.

No-one else even try to compete-you can never beat the best. :)
GO BLUES.
