I see similarities between Holmes and Jordan Clark, I’ve seen them both in action and they both posses amazing leg speed. Putting aside bias, who would you choose? (I’m happy with Holmes btw)

I have noticed we don’t have a player in the top 50 for contested possesions, to solve our clearance troubles we need a player who can get hands on it first and have the size to hold there ground and dish. A Cripps or Rowell type player, do we see anyone to fill this role I don’t think Blitz has the hand eye for this, how is George Stevens looking? Bowes could be the perfect difference in our midfield if he played this role, we have the pace with Holmes and Bruhn just need a consistent bull when paddy is gone. What are your thoughts on this?
(BTW love Conways second efforts)

Atkins and Holmes are both in the top 50 for contested possessions, by the way.

As for Clayton Oliver, I wouldn't go near him. The noises in the media align with things I've heard from a few players' families about what he's like. Seems like a huge dickhead and locker-room cancer. As this is purely anecdotal, feel free not to engage with this point.

I would like to see Holmes bulk up and move inside the contest more in the coming years. The kid has the 'never-flustered' disposition that you need. If he can get some extra strength, his leg drive and contested ball will only get better. He is the future captain of our club. Almost a certainty.

If we can snag a free agent from around the league aka Danger / Jezza, we're in good shape. A Bulldogs / Melbourne implosion would be ideal for us.

Clark has been amazing this year and his outside game and run have been better than Holmes. But I would take Holmes as we need mids and he is a much better contested player

While the similarities are understood, how would you describe their differences?

Physically, Clark has slightly more bulk

Holmes is 21yo + Clark is 19yo
Holmes has played 63 games since 2021
Clark has played has played 11 games since 2023 (one game in 2023)

Unfair to choose between the two, I think, because: while both are described as 'on ballers', Holmes stated he'd always regarded himself as an inside mid, whereas he's described as an outside mid, in articles. Holmes, when interviewed: "playing a bit on the wing and a bit inside so I can still develop both my inside and outside skills." Also focusing on kicking + contest work. Holmes' explosive pace is exciting when bounding out defence + up the ground.

Clark, at this stage is a project player, in whom the Club has faith + are prepared to invest in his development. There is contradictory commentary on his skills. Clark describes himself as "an inside mid who likes to go forward + kick a a goal, although, at 180cm, he says he’s “pretty small” compared to the modern-day mid." Others say he's an outside mid, lacking pace. This article states: "Clark has demonstrated a capable inside/outside midfield balance + has also played taller than his 180cm, providing a marking + goal kicking option forward of centre." He is dual footed. When entering the draft: "The hardened on-baller compounds his contested work by being able to get to the outside + lean on his clean fundamental skills. At the coalface, Clark does things at full intensity + drives low when putting his head over the ball." Next: "Jeremy Cameron, as a forward, is particularly excited to get on the end of Clark's handy work as both an inside + outside midfielder. “He's a bit of combination, I would say. He definitely wins his own ball + then he bursts away,”

Ultimately with the retirements of midfielders, surely there is room for both?

Not a bad post and comparison but I think the question was about Fremantles Jordon Clark

Think he meant Jordan not Jye.

Ditto comments from Warhorse and I would add that Holmes 2022 as a full time wing was good enough to push Isaac Smith to the forward line in the year Smith won the norm.

By coincidence, Hello Kitty your analysis is a good answer to the second question though as I think Clark will be potentially as good as butters

Thank you for being kind 😻

I’ll see myself out 🤦🏻‍♀️

Didn’t know that, quite an achievement.

Thank you for you kind comment.

Yes I am not interested in Oliver either or Bailey Smith.
We have players at 48-49 for averages and totals it’s just top 50, but you are right 😂. It is a bit concerning I think a lot of the top teams have a couple in the top 25.

Thanks Warhorse. I’m a bit of a duffer. The two ‘J’s are very confusing

I think Oliver is a bad choice but Smith is young enough to grow with the group and a potentially quick, powerful, ball winning mid which exactly what we need. I see Smith as potentially a key cog in a rebuild not an alternative choice

Smith is a midfielder/forward? Read he rotates through different positions such as midfielder, wingman + forward.

Could we arrange a deal with Bulldogs? Smith + Lobb (know nothing about him, but not getting games)
Buy one + second is half price 🤭

We don't want Rory Lobb, trust me on this.

Would absolutely love to see Clarry in the hoops. I’m sure the Cats would be doing their due diligence before making an offer.
Inside bull, Premiership player, 3 x All Australian.
He’s a gun, he may have off feild issues but so did Stengle. A change of scenery, and the responsibility of leading a bunch of young kids might be exactly what he needs.

Yeah surely they’ll throw in Bailey Smith to get Lobb off their hands 😂

We shall see on CO. IF we could get him right I'm sure the Dees would be happy to unload him.

Smith - needs your guy to give him a hairy.

My points exactly. It seems there is more going on behind the scenes so we would need to do extensive DD of course.

Don't think we could play two of lobb and neale so wouldn't bother.

Reckon Smith gets thrown around into positions that don't suit because Bevo.

Thing about Oliver though is the trade cost. Smith wouldn't diminish a rebuild but Oliver might
