The state government needed to hand the land over to the GC council in order for them to start building it with a private developer. It's planned to host the basketball during the Olympics and we won't be bound by state government deadlines, which means we can build it a lot quicker and gain entry into the NBL in 2027 amongst other events like musical concerts, UFC, WWE etc. We should be able to secure just as much, if not more, as Brisbane does with a venue like this because ours will be considerably better than the decrepit Brisbane Entertainment Centre in the middle of nowhere in Boondall.[URL unfurl="true"]https://www.abc.net.au/news/2025-03-26/regional-reaction-brisbane-olympics-2032-plan/105093704[/URL]
