Weight: 104kg

Draft History: Pick 17 (Carlton), 2006 National Draft

Recruited From: Mt Gravatt

Debut: Round 21, 2007 vs North Melbourne

Career Highlights: Video to be provided

2013 Forecast:

I can't wait for this bloke to make his debut, will be something very special according to Mr.Hughes. One of my favourite players alongside of Tex, Murph and Carlos.

If either Cain or Jason missed a match for whatever reason, would Hampson be the first choice back up, or would McLaren be ahead of him?

I know Hampson is very raw but from what i have seen from a limited amount of training sessions watched is that he has a brilliant leap and good hands.

will be interesting to see how he plays with the ants this week. :thumbsu:

Um... Jason??? His name is Cameron Cloke, and he's been a shining light for us in the ruck over the past four/five games :)

You would think that to put in a 17/18 year old kid in the ruck could either be a silly move or a good learning one. Don't think it would happen this year.

By the sounds of things, McLaren is not really our best 3rd ruckman anymore - going by Gilly's reports of Bullants games and training, it sounds like Aisake, Hampson and Jacobs are all developing quite well and move around the ground quite effectively.

I think the only reason McLaren would be ahead of those three is so not to rush the kids, physically or mentally. It could be damaging putting them up against a Cox or a Sandilands. but you never know! :)

Was named first ruck with the Ants, but I think just for the physical side of things McLaren would come in ahead of him.

Probably right there BB. Hammo got pushed around a bit last week against the bigger bodied Coburg ruckmen in the praccy match, so I can definitely see him starting in a FP or on the bench, while having some stints in the ruck.

his game on the weekend, seems like an excellent talent, he looks a bit akward kicking the ball, but gets the job done, he still needs to put on a few more kilos, he gets out muscled pretty easily by the bigger boys in the VFL, but i have high expectations of him for the future

He struggled with the boundary throw-ins due to lack of strength, but he moves well, at one stage running past for a handball receive on HFF & ready to have a shot for but umpire paid a free-kick no advantage.

He reminds me soooooo much of a very young Kouta (Circa. 1992). The way he runs and moves across the groubd brought some memories back of a raw, but extremely athleticly talented Kouta and I hold high hope for this guy...

Nah, a 201cm Richo in navy blue :D

i really hope he can turn out to be like kouta, only time will tell
my hope for the hammer is he can become a top class ruckmen, who can hurt the oppostion around the ground, his meant to be very quick for his height.. lets keep our fingers crossed and hope he lives up to his hype

A chance this week due to Cloke and McLaren being injured???
I hope not since he's too young and Mclaren has been the no. 1 ruck for the Bullants. The Cloke injury should only be used to give him a chance to start as number one ruck for Preston. :thumbsu:

Looks a very good prospect.

Watching the Bullants game, it was clear that he has incredible pace for a guy his size. Numerous times I saw Box Hill players being run down from behind, and seeing Hammo being the tackler.

Played predominantly as a forward and kicked 2 goals from set shots, one of which was an absolute beauty from the boundary line. Didn't see him much in the ruck, but looks to be developing very nicely.

Good. I hope he gets the chance to learn his trade and bulk up before being thrown to the wolves.
It would be nice to have the depth to be able to nurture young players who need it rather than be forced to throw them in when they aren't ready.

He's playing reserves so he can ruck four quarters a match and fast track his development. He wouldn't get that game time in the seniors, Mclaren and Jacobs are better ruckmen and the Bullants are interested in winning games.

We're going it alone in the VFL next year. ;)

Hampson isn't playing VFL reserves because he's a f*ckwit.

Essendon duo disciplined
Essendon's chief operating officer Travis Auld said the behaviour of the players was unacceptable and Cole has been banished to the Bendigo reserves side for the next three matches, while Jetta will play in the same team for the next two games.

difference between discipline and form

hampson was playing quite well up forward at the start of the year in the vfl

the reason i brought it up was because i remember at the start of the year so many of you guys were talking him up so much and even saying he could win the NAB rising star award. it was just a i told you so kind of thing

it wasn't meant to be seen as a troll. he may end up being a good footballer. you guys would know better than i would

I'd much rather Hampson be dropped to find form and experience to Jetta being dropped for being a ****wit.

That he was. He was dropped so he can get more experience playing in the ruck which he couldn't get in the Bullants seniors with the likes of Ackland, McLaren and Jacobs ahead of him.

Show me one instance of a true Carlton supporter saying that Shaun Hampson could win the 2007 NAB Rising Star award . We know he can't because he is a project player that won't be really ready until the middle of next year at the very earliest.

it was just a i told you so kind of thing

You are a moron. I told you so.

it wasn't meant to be seen as a troll. he may end up being a good footballer. you guys would know better than i would

Looks like a thinly veiled troll which failed miserably. We do know much more than you which is why uneducated opinions, like yours, on a matter which you have no idea, like this, are laughed upon.

seems as if some of your fellow carlton supporters may share the same opinion as my goodself after reading some other threads

you seem pretty touchy about this subject jeremias. you just keep telling yourself that he's a "project player". whatever makes you sleep better at night.

remember denial is not just a river in egypt
