I've talked about this one before. Space is big [citation needed] and to see something else would be like trying to spot one specific bicycle in greater Melbourne. I'm sure there's now more space junk so it's probably a car in greater Melbourne.

Keep in mind GPS = Ground Positioning System

Global positioning system.

GG mate, satellites ****ing exist.

There are 8,261 man-made satellites (and 1 non man made one, namely the Moon) currently orbiting the (spherical) Earth, which is in turn orbiting the 4.6-Billion-year-old G type main sequence star (the Sun) at the center of our Solar system at a rough distance of 150,000,000kms, all of which is taking place on the outer spiral arm of the Milky Way galaxy, one of 200,000,000,000 observable galaxies in the still expanding Universe.

GG.exe this one is for you.
It’s an hour long, but when you get the time I highly recommend this.

There’s some significant evidence of a comprehensive balloon satellite launching & recovery program. It includes information on many balloon launches from Sweden for modules of the MIR.

Thanks very much for thinking of me. Bookmarking to watch tomorrow night.

Yes, there are a lot of satellites.

So what satellites are you saying 'don't exist' then?

And if we can launch satellites, why are we not launching them, but just lying about it?

What on earth do you gain from lying about putting a GPS satellite in space, as opposed to actually putting it in space, and then selling access to it?

Like; I'm presuming you acknowledge the existence of weather satellites, photography satellites, GPS satellites, the Space Station, and communication satellites.

OK... so this is a thread about satellites that exist?

Again, who would devote time and money and effort and resources into faking a satellites launch and existence, and why?

Why not just launch the actual satellite?
I dont know, its a CT topic that floats around and so when the board was started, and continued, its about pumping it with content.

There are some interesting videos and articles out there by reputed professionals that say our technology/infrastracture is all groubd based, fiber cables under the oceans etc. Compelling enough.

Well I’m not sure they can be launched from the nose of rockets, maybe they can. I think there is compelling evidence that there are a lot of satellites that are launched by a balloon that can get up to 180,000 feet and maybe higher. These are not floating above the Karman line unaided

If there is a comprehensive balloon satellite launching program that is successfully launching many satellites, I have to ask myself why bother with the more expensive rocket when helium will do the trick.

NASA does spend an insane amount of money on helium.

I think the motivation is $. That and the continued overstatement of our space travel capabilities (which also gets more $).

Wut? That's the only way they can be launched. Via rockets.

Balloons cant get high enough to launch a satellite into stable orbit.

180,000 feet (55kms) isnt even close to how high you have to go to achieve a stable orbit. You're still in Earths atmosphere at that point.

Most satellites around the earth orbit at thousands of KMs in altitude.

The closest man-made satellite to Earth is the ISS and it's 408kms up in the sky, and the closest natural satellite is the Moon at 384,400kms in altitude.
