It’s phrased oddly but this article suggests that Stephenson and the daughter that is the same age might both have gone to St Francis Xavier Primary (says Jess was ‘part of the school community’).

Doesn’t mean they particularly knew each other or anything but you’d have to think they’d have an idea of who the other was or have mutual acquaintances.
