Frampton has to be given a go. He's been here long enough. But Billy gets injured in the preseason so if Paddy goes down at the start of the year then he might not be around. If its one game with no Paddy or Billy then depending on match ups go with Howard or Ladhams. If its 6 games both are missing stuffed if i know what we do.

I wanted us to pick Scott Jones who is 22, was an AFL-AIS graduate when 17, broke his ankle in his U/18 year, which saw him miss the draft and has slowed his progress down. He plays at East Perth so is aligned with West Coast, was a better ruckman than Giles, but when Giles was dropped from the Eagles to East Perth he was forced to play 2nd fiddle to him, and spent time as a forward but maintained his output. He ran a 3.02 second 20m sprint and 20.2 Yo-Yo test so that is decent running ability, is 202cm/109kgs so at 22 he was a plug and play emergency ruckman in the #4 rucking slot when drafted but he would have quickly gone past Ladhams and maybe even Billy. He has worked in an AFL environment with the WCE feeder club and at 22  has upside and development potential rather than a 29 year old state ruckman break in case of emergency type.

I am happy we got Hayes instead of Jones because he shouldn't have slide that far, and he could be something in 5 years time, so once we got him we were never going to take Jones - who Freo nabbed at pick 70.

But Parker said if Hayes didn't slide we wouldn't have taken a ruck, ie Jones or anyone else, and he probably would have gone for another HBF 180~185cm type, because we need more of them.
