Today, the Gold City Royals continued their losing start the season going down to the Mount Buller Demons in an embarrassing display. In the post game press conference, Co-Captain and head of gameplan The Filth Wizard was questioned about whether the list management decisions made in the off season had been the reason for the problem start.
"Mr. Wizard, the Royals went hard over the off season bringing in 7 new players to what was an already successful side, do you believe that these inclsuions have made a negative impact?"
"Look, something I've learnt over my 299 game qareer is that things happen in this game that are unexplainable, you can't go out and assume that correlation is the causation, our recruits have all performed above expectation, hell we've had two out of 3 rookies in krakouers85 and Engimal v3 get nominated for the on field rookie award already this season!"
"So your rookies are performing, veterans such as nahnah, spookism, Marlowe and GreyCrow are having arguably qareer best seasons, is it fair to say the 'big name' inclusions are underperforming?"
"Yeah this press conference is over!"
Clearly avoiding throwing recruits MC Bad Genius, boncer34 and fellow Co-Captain PMBangers under the bus, Mr. Wizard has a lot of options to ponder over the week heading into a must win game against his former club the Southern Dragons.
High profile recruit PMBangers has failed to deliver onfield so far this season
Season 30 Royals premiership star Smartys Power sat down earlier in the week to discuss the season the Royals had had to date;
"Smartys, we know the higher up guys are gonna stuff us around, tell us straight up, whats going wrong at the Royals"
"Honestly I don't know, I think it all started when we recruited that Co-Captain guy, he comes in, demands a prime spot, won't move from it, refuses to run defensively, doesn't like my Smartys at half time meal idea, it's sheer arrogance from the top stuffing us about"
"So PMBangers really is the issue?"
"Who's that?"
"The Co-Captain that you recruited for S32"
"Oh nah that ones ok, the other one is a pain"
"The Wizard?"
"Yes"
Truly perplexing times at the Gold City Royals indeed folks, and now the question remains, can they turn their season around?
