Here's my first attempt at predicting the Round 24 fixture. What do we think?

Friday
7.40 Brisbane v Essendon Gabba

Saturday
1.45 Hawthorn v North Melbourne UTAS
1.45 Geelong v West Coast GMHBA
4.35 Richmond v Gold Coast MCG
7.30 Carlton v St Kilda Marvel
7.30 Sydney v Adelaide SCG

Sunday
12.30 Western Bulldogs v GWS Mars
3.20 Collingwood v Melbourne MCG
6.10 Fremantle v Port Adelaide Optus

Yes this post is from a Richmond fan. And yes it is school holidays too.

Friday
7.40 Brisbane v Essendon Gabba

Saturday
1.45 Western Bulldogs v GWS Mars
1.45 Collingwood v Melbourne MCG
4.35 Carlton v St Kilda Marvel
7.30 Fremantle v Port Adelaide Optus Stadium
7.30 Sydney v Adelaide SCG

Sunday
12.30 Hawthorn v North Melbourne UTAS
3.20 Richmond v Gold Coast MCG
4.40 Geelong v West Coast GMHBA

Think the AFL will look to have all the possible top 8 sides playing Friday and Saturday. Sunday you have 3 games that could well decide the spoon

I think that's the wrong way round.

Since the introduction of the pre-finals bye, the top 8 clubs want to play later on in the weekend so the break isn't too long.

Something different then with the possible battle for top spot rounding out the weekend

Freo’s reward for a likely top 2 finish is the Sunday slot?
They usually play the game with big ramifications on the last day of the H&A season. And I think Carlton finishes top 2. Freo like all teams (except Sydney) aren't even guaranteed top 4 this far out. A loss this week could drop Freo to 7th.

All of these games have huge ladder ramifications:

Fremantle vs Port,
Brisbane vs Essendon
Collingwood vs Melbourne
Bulldogs vs GWS

I think one of them goes Friday night (likely Brisbane vs Essendon) and the other three are played on Sunday.

My attempt:

Friday
7.40 Brisbane v Essendon Gabba

Saturday
1.45 Hawthorn v North Melbourne UTAS
1.45 Richmond v Gold Coast MCG
4.35 Sydney v Adelaide SCG
7.30 Carlton v St Kilda Marvel
7.30 Geelong v West Coast GMHBA

Sunday
12.30 Western Bulldogs v GWS Mars
3.20 Collingwood v Melbourne MCG
6.10 Fremantle v Port Adelaide Optus

This might need a rethink. Pies are looking shot and deserve to be bumped. I reckon the AFL will manufacture it so they get Friday night.

Can they play a Ballarat game at 3.20pm on the Sunday or is light an issue?

New prediction:

Friday
7.40 Collingwood v Melbourne MCG

Saturday
1.45 Geelong v West Coast GMHBA
1.45 Richmond v Gold Coast MCG
4.35 Carlton v St Kilda Marvel
7.30 Brisbane v Essendon Gabba
7.30 Sydney v Adelaide SCG

Sunday

12.30 Hawthorn v North Melbourne UTAS
3.20 Western Bulldogs v GWS Mars
6.10 Fremantle v Port Adelaide Optus

Why is there 3 games on Saturday night? We have the pre-finals bye now, so no need to push the top 8 teams early into the fixture. AFL will want to spread it out as much as possible.

Very likely that if Fremantle v Port decides a top 4 or 8 spot, it will go 6pm Sunday like they did with Carlton v GWS last year. And with the timezone difference, makes it even easier to schedule.

Seems strange that both SA Teams play away on the last round!

Don’t think they would play their games as overlaps on tv!

Thurs night Melb vs Coll (both teams can eat the 5 day break as no finals for them)
Fri night Brisbane vs Essendon
*Sat early Bulldogs vs Giants (Ballarat)
Sat Twilight Sydney vs Adelaide
Sat night Carlton vs St Kilda
Sat night Fremantle vs Port
*Sun early Hawthorn vs North (Launceston)
Sun middle Geelong vs West Coast
Sun twilight Richmond vs Gold Coast

Really hoping Fremantle vs Port Adelaide doesn't get shunted into the late Sunday graveyard timeslot

Reckon it'll be this

BL v ESS - FRI, G
RIC v GC - SAT, MCG 1:45
HAW v NM - SAT, UTAS
GEEL v WCE - SAT, GMHBA 4:35
SYD v ADE - SAT, SCG 7:25
CARL v STK - SAT, MRVL
WB v GWS - SUN, MARS 1:10
COL v MELB - SUN, MCG 3:20
FRE v PORT - SUN, OS 6:10

AFL might want the Carlton game on the Sunday instead of the Collingwood game but you'd then get 2 MCG games so more shuffling would be needed.
Melbourne could still be alive R24 so could leave it at 3:20 despite the pies being gone.
You'd have to wager a lot of money that Freo Port will be a standalone Sunday night game
