go cane train, anything but the stars, but canes will add some beautiful salt to their wound,as they are the 2 clubs that have won niether a mens or a womens title, while the other 6 clubs have won both

Interesting that with Adelaide coming last (nice guy when I have met him in social events but not a big fan of Paine as a coach) the Hobart Hurricanes are the only club yet to win a wooden spoon.

There were alot of players not out there today. Drills were pretty focused on I50 stoppages. Prob wasn't the best session for an open training.

Tend to agree. A lot of action away from grandstand end with many in the grandstand. No sausages or much in way of extra provisions odd considering school holidays. Cafe queue ridiculous. No Saints man walking around. No Red Rooster van even. And no Marshall, King, Boyd, any new players. Just could have had smidge more effort.

I know this is their job and we are just onlookers, but I was a bit underwhelmed with the training session today. Wanted to get a good look at the new boys and none of the new draftees were out there past 10:15. Bit of a let down.

One thing of note. After a semi decent session, a good bulk of the players did their running drills, and Wilson is an absolute specimen. Continuously catching up to the group in front of him. And he was barely breaking a sweat.

I really like the look of Keeler. Think he's ready to go. He's filled out nicely.

I'm worried about Collard. He was almost extradited forced to do some basic drills by himself, with two coaches, for a good chunk of the session, was even wearing a different tank top then the rest of the team. Just seems real odd.

Pou and Steele were interlinked a lot. Wherever Steele was, Mattaes was right there next to him. Clearly a mentorship situation imo.

This O'Connell fella might actually be the real deal. Bout time we got a good Irishman. He did some lovely things.

Overall I feel was a very monotone session. Nothing to really get me excited.

Wanted to get a photo with Pou post session but some little gremlin child pushed Infront of me and started screaming at poor Mattaes for a photo so I thought I'd leave it haha.

No new players because there was an AFL Day for all new recruits. I believe

Youre right but its also argurable that one, maybe two of those guys are starting 22.

Henry is, Clark and Dow MIGHT be pending their pre seasons but both have also likely shifted back in the midfield rotation pecking order with Macrae coming across and the emergence of Garcia and a few others seemingly flying on the track.

Hastie, Collard and Tauru are projects/depth.

Theyll hopefully get themselves right as we start to need some depth for niggles and rest

Dow and Clark are super important for depth, so is Jones. We had a fine starting 22 at the start of last year but Crouch, Dow, Jones types all broke down. Even Clark had a staggered start. Same with forwards. King, Membrey, Butler and Hammer all missed significant time.

It was an interesting morning to say the least........a very big crowd....all the new recruits were there......it's just that they were out there earlier....then in the gym on the bikes........we were discussing why that might have been.

It was quite a sight after the match sims seeing one of the field umps running several laps right behind Darcy.....continually 5 to 6 feet behind him(maybe the ump needed some tips on running endurance)

As usual Darcy was gliding along......another day at the office for young Darce.

No doubt is it was a session tailored for the crowd.

One thing that did impress me was the strong contested marking.

I'm looking at you Sharminator !!!

A special shout out for Windy........he did some very very good passages of play......I'm tipping a big year for him in the mids conversation(The Pies game earlier last season anyone)

And the guns on him......I wouldn't want a punch in the face from him....you'd have to pick my head up from the ground....

Lol.

Yes non-Open Training Days are best.

He could well end up as Webster's successor.

I feel like you’re just saying what I already said…

Every injury is important. When your depth gets ruined it puts more pressure on. Losing both Dow and Clark would hurt. They were both in the midfield for us at the end of the year. Really hoping both are out there again soon.

Said is anything but irrelevant…do you get to training at all!!

I probably should have said that Said is a new recruit and therefore down the list in terms of players you'd prefer not to be injured! Is he even injured, I do not get to training sir no as I live closer to the North Pole than I do Moorabbin, I'm a total internet expert here, but I have been known to predict things with some accuracy!

How are the beef toasties going though? Update required.

As long as it's essentially only Dow out for now I think we're gonna be OK. But really this period is crucial, it's the stretch of pre-season last year when they all started to break down. If that happens again, honestly just send me over a cliff being chased by naked women like that skit from Monty Python.
