See if our clearances hold up when we lose the extra at ground level Jackson gives us especially in the centre where they are worth x3 than around the ground

We win the hitouts

Win the clearances around the ground but get pantsed in the centre square

Lose the game by 5 goals and have a headache about what’s our best combo that lasts 6 yrs

JACKSON MUST TAKE THE CENTRE BOUNCES !!!

Plonk Darcy in the backline and he can take over around the ground while Jacko goes fwd after the bounce

Can’t see JLo doing something out of the box like that though

I'd start Darcy at full forward but otherwise i agree on the approach.

JL has done more adventurous things then he's been given credit for. Logue and Cox forward, Amiss straight in for a final as a 19 year old, Young into the middle

I think full fwd is to far away to transition smoothly and you can get caught out , if Darcy’s in the backline it doesn’t really matter as him and Jacko can both push up

The odd positional change or selection surprise is not the same as trying something tactically innovative

No Sean Darcy this week.

Ras in.

So you want Darcy to play as a ruck, but only in the back line, that means we are a forward short when Jackson is rucking in the archs. Crazy idea to put an under fit slow Darcy in the back line. He can cover the opposition ruck when he goes forward but that about it.

Last week Rioli was a danger man anywhere near Port's goal and Rozee roamed freely wreaking devastation. You'd think corralling them would go a fair way towards helping Freo win.

To win this game we just need our midfield and our backline to keep playing as they have been, but we need our forward line to lift and play their best game of the year.

The Crabernator will awaken.

Sure he’s going to trample all over the leading patterns of Jye and Josh. Sure he’s going to miss his regulation shot on goal 25 out, directly in front. (Quickly followed by a theoretically much harder successful snap from deep in the pocket.)

But he is going to monster Allir. Just wrestle him into submission. All day. He’ll be wrestling Allir going up the races at the end of the game. He’ll follow him home and wrestle his cavoodle.

This is the game where our forward line will flick the switch and we will see the chemistry we have been longing to see. Accuracy will not be an issue and Jye in particular will have a break out game.

Our midfield will be fired up and it will be contagious. After a pretty crappy week Jordan will play a blinder to shut down the critics.

Dockers to win by 9 points.

Yeah we can't surrender center bounces to Port. They'll shred us if their ruck gets on top.

I think we over rate rucks importance in the centre bounce and clearance. Last night the best ruckman in the comp (Gawn) tore the Brisbane rucks a new one with 57 hit outs to 27, but Brisbane still squared up centre bounce clearances and won stoppage clearances easily 33 to 24
