Dude is a natural defender and knows his craft well, thinl hes under rated by a lot writing him off. Physical limitations and decision making ball in hand are his issues on getting into AFL.
Yes a very good WAFL defender - but can't see him being extended at the completion of his current contract (2026) for the reasons you have outlined.

Davies was good. Chuck him in the bests as well. Ollie Murphy I thought a bit fumbly today. Nichols very rusty.
My comment was at everyone more so than you to be clear, I agree with your bests. Murphy was terrible, you're being nice

Ras was good. But he again showed why he misses out. He is solely an inside midfielder. Just no forward craft at all. Had a shot at goal late and his run up gets side on with the ball and stutter steps to nowhere. Never looks likely.

He’ll just have to wait till a midfield spot pops up or get traded. On the whole he was good through the midfield and hit up majority of his 6 x i50’s.

I’d say bests Selwood, Ras, Reidy and then Cooper. Hard work after that for sure.

I’ve never seen so many i50 kicks from a WAFL team miss the target by so much. Peels lack of competitive forwards is an issue but the i50’s just terrible. I remember about 7 that went way over the head of the leading forward. There are better i50 kicks from our AFL Supers footy team.
Like the wat Selwood goes about it, tough at the ball and plenty of improvement left in him, handy rookie pick up at the end of the year if spot available

So do I. Supposedly AFL clubs are turned off by his kicking under pressure but he is great one on one defender and takes some very good marks. Also a really tough nut. Was supposed to train with WC for SSP spot but didn’t happen as they went more the KPD route.

Worth a MSD spot for mine.

The other one playing well is Jaiden Hunter at Claremont. Never got going at Essendon due to back injuries. Kicking bags of goals.

Isiah Winder also very good but a similar type to Murphy/Narkle/Fredricks as half forward/mid.

Mum taught me not to say anything if you have nothing nice to say.

I’ll break that a little. He was running around in general like a baby giraffe. Legs and arms all over the place and double handling every ground ball.

Not sure about him. Happy to give him time. Davies is going along fine. Needs to iron out some of those horibulus errors. Thankfully less of them as time goes. One cracker today with a handball in the backline.

Anyone know when Trew and Erasmus played on each other. Not sure if Trew went to Ras or they sent Ras to trew who had 17 possies or something the first quarter and a half.

Was looking at it in the latter half of the last quarter when Peel had some repeat stoppages inside their forward 50m. Swans were playing Erasmus with their player facing away from the ball up, sort of face to face blocking with a hand pushing on his chest. Not sure where Trew was at that stage, but the two players I noticed doing it were Chalcraft (22) and Clarke (7).

Ta. Erasmus started off really well and then I noticed he was on Trew who had 17 possies or something. Both of them got reined in a bit from there. Bit of a slog between them for a while. Not having Brodie make it difficult for Raz. Mainly because of the reasons you mentioned.

Some thoughts on the game today:

  • Nicholls and Riddle have very similar default game-styles; put body on your opponent then try and leap mark. Neither really led up at the ball (preferring to stay deep when in the forward line) and I think this really hurt Peel today. They were often not up to out bodying their WAFL opponents (often their positioning wasn't quite right) and when they did bring the ball to ground there were no Peel players in place and Swans just raced it out. Both I think are reasonable athletically, so would like to see them get up the ground more; I know their primary styles will be the "preferred" way at AFL level but it can't hurt to have a few other strings to your violin.
  • Reidy still seems well down from where he was last year, but I thought at least his movement around the ground was a bit better this week. Some okay tapwork as well.
  • Banfield was trying to emulate attacking Bolton (and kicked some goals), but at the same time I didn't like his defensive efforts, and I wonder if that will be what stands out to the coaches as well.
  • Simpson got a reasonable amount of it again today, but I thought his kicking choices were better generally then the last couple of weeks. I also counted a couple of broken tackles on the negative side which really let the Swans have a good look at times.
  • Is Ollie Murphy supposed to be a replacement for Ryan if he goes down? If not, what is his role at the next level?
  • Erasmus was Erasmus - another level above everyone else there really. Disposal was not stand out but nor was it stand out for negative reasons either.
  • I found it hard to differentiate between Coulton and Delean at times.

I thought Murphy was playing as a key defender. I don't think he was as bad as the others saying but he does make some bad mistakes.

It wasn't like either team had an avenue to goal or a commanding forward. Swans had Howard and Notte as key defenders who have close to 500 games of WAFL between them.

Aish is cooked. Barely even trying to chase.
Yep Aish is done. Will play the odd AFL game as depth for injury cover. Cooper in my opinion has moved ahead of him. Worner looking good and not forgetting Walker later in the year. Wagner is now playing mix of half back and wing. Aish’s age has caught up with him and your reference to him barely trying to chase I think is more a reflection of him being so slow. One thing in his favour which has seen him play ahead of Cooper is experience and tackling strength. Like mentioned already Cooper needs to stick his tackles. We can’t have a defender in our team that allows offensive players breaking through tackles.

He was trying to chase mate, he's just Lord H'a'Aishy'Haitchy'Haitch, old and slow like me, but he is trying to chase.
When he finally catches up to them he does get the tackle in though, and sticks it more often than not.

What a glorious weekend with the mighty Perth football club knocking of the undefeated East Perth. Barich giving a call out to the gravely ill Peter Bosustow after the win was a nice moment.
Sad news about the great Peter B, thoughts are with his family and friends. A great of the WAFL.

Damn. I forgot it was on again. They are playing some great football atm.

I've seen Perth a couple of times this season via their televised matches. Elijah Scoble in their backline plays good footy.
Perth have a couple of really good young key position backs from their grand final colts team playing league that would give Davis and Murphy a good run for their money.

I was really looking just for how Ras was going at the stoppages, so those were just examples, but by the last quarter the margin was less than a goal either way so the tags might have been off and what I noticed might just be standard blocking. They could have been blocking for Trew to get the ball, so they might have been playing on each other as well.
