China win a gold and the same pathetic people in here with their drug cheat cries.

Interested on your thoughts on the Ethiopian runners, Jamaican sprinters, Mo Farah etc.
The cyclists as well.

Doping is very common in world sport. Some countries and programs are just better at masking it than others.
You do realise they had a ton a positive tests come back of late and got off on a technicality or the fact wada and don’t want the money spinner china are banned from the Olympics like Russia was

Yep, I do. Not living under a rock.

Again though if you think doping and the masking of it isn't rampant in sports (particularly athletics) then you're definitely living under one.

So let me get this straight.

Doping is “very common” and therefore we shouldn’t be outraged about it?

No thanks.

People have every right to question athletes and be dubious of certain nations.

We don’t need you trying to belittle people who believe in the sanctity of clean competition.

Perhaps you can put your hands up to contribute to the “Enhanced Games” board should the event ever go ahead.

SwimSwam's tweet - didn't mention Emma McKeon

By winning the women’s 800 freestyle in Paris, Katie Ledecky became the first woman to win four gold medals in the same event. She also won her 9th gold medal, which makes her the 2nd most decorated female Olympian of all time, only behind gymnast Larisa Latynina.

Team/relay medals should be taken out of these 'GOAT' discussions.
Gymnasts win team gold medals, equestrians have individual and team events, flat water canoeists race in singles two and four man/woman boats, athletics has relays, and artistic swimming has duets and teams events, so the graphic is a fair representation of who is the most decorated Olympian.

I don't think this is a GOAT discussion graphic, it is just one that reflects who has achieved the most medals.

Yep - when we're talking about GOATS - only the medals you have won on your own - in ANY/EVERY sport.

Other mon-solo events like relays can be a 'PS - also won...'

Agree. We should just rank them by individual medals. If you come from a poor country you will never win a relay medal.

Jenny thompson has 8 golds but not a single individual gold. Shouldnt be in the list. Either should mckeon.

Which is the main problem when most of these 'GOAT rankings' come from a rich/highly populated nation.

Jenny Thompson, Allyson Felix, just to name a couple that shouldn't be in any discussions about GOATs.

Ledecky has won more individual gold medals than anyone else across all sports. Does that make her the GOAT?

Here is the swimming graphic for both men and women

7 gold, 0 silver a 0 bronze is pretty badass.

Ledecky is fine if you take out the relay medals. Just take them all out of everyone's tallies to show what they have won solo.

Of course - still hard to compare over the eras as (say) in Dawn Fraser's day there wasn't a 50m or 200m free on the schedule. If there was she probably would have won another 6 golds.

Murray Rose once said 'if Dawn trained a bit harder she could've won 400 free golds too'. Perhaps with the sponsors/money available these days, she might have. She also set a World 100m butterfly record once too I think.
