Not sure about Paddy, may have gone past him a little but he obviously has talent. He is one more head knock out retirement if/when he makes a comeback.

We have enough players constantly on the shelf. Good luck Paddy but I liked Prince of Penzance’s chances better, and that’s before Weir was a known cheat.

If we recruited Paddy it would be like when St Kilda recruited Freeman. It's not a good idea. Hasn't shown much at the level, injury prone and we already have a lot of developing key forwards.
 
If he was dropped off the saints list and then went on and played a string of solid games in the VFL, I would think about rookying him if those positions still exist next year....

I'm not seeing this lot that you speak of. Two very speculative ones in Tohill and Kelly. Talk of developing Wilson higher up the ground. There's definitely space if we think he's a decent chance.

Wilson, Kelly, Tohill is plenty. We're in need of a best 22 fit key forward not a developing one. McCartin is both injury prone and of speculative ability at AFL level. Really the wrong fit for us.

Not at all imo. The Saints were looking to move him to defence to try to protect his head a bit more, and I imagine any club looking at him would be thinking the same way. Given we’ve currently got Roughead, Moore, potentially Kelly and Keane all vying for key defence spots I think recruiting him would be a mistake we can easily avoid.

Outside of maybe Kelly, who could just as easily be a defender, who do we have? I hope you’re not suggesting Wilson or Tohill given they’ve both been training and playing on the wings all preseason? Cameron? Maybe a 3rd tall/ruck. A genuine key forward is still very much a need for us.

Even if you disagree on the assessment that we don't need more developing key forwards, McCartin isn't the one to punt on. Injuries, concussions and exposed form are enough to put a line through him.

Yes, absolutely. My only beef is the idea that we are good for developing KPF, because it’s clearly an area we’re lacking in given the Hail Mary ones in Tohil and Cameron, with Wilson not really built for it despite his height.

I reckon Wilson is a good shot at centre half forward. He has the athleticism for it and I like his temperament too. Has some go about him.
 
I could see the talent but I have never really rated him. Modern footy as a key forward too small and not enough attributes to be a star. Maybe down back he could be a gun. Saints deserve him if he is right to go and they want him. Wish him best where ever things may fall for him.
 
Can certainly understand why some are keen but in the current environment I'm not sure there will be too many suitors.

Wilson been Very Promising in the Games so Far but can't put all your Hope into 1 Prospect
 
It's great news for McCartin if he's finally gotten over the concussion symptoms but it would be ill advised to believe he's recovered from the condition that causes the problem.

Another hard jolting knock and he's likely back to square one.

Exactly right & it's not like he has shown he can play at this level at all anyway. Stay away I reckon.

He is a natural full forward, exactly the type of player we have lacked for a number of years. We could do a lot worse, and if he is fully fit to play, I would 100% draft him if we can.
