So he'd be moving for roughly the same that WCE would be offering him?
Right....
Yes because we lowballed him by not offering him more than he can get elsewhere. Media 101.

Well we dont know what the eagles are offering and by the sounds of it he has been low balledSo he'd be moving for roughly the same that WCE would be offering him?

What's 'lowballed' exactly?Well we dont know what the eagles are offering and by the sounds of it he has been low balled
If he gets $150k more a year and 2 extra years as well as being a chance to play in a flag - Why not

I'm still at a loss that clubs are actually contemplating paying him 900k a year on a long term contract.
If he is worth 900k, what would Darcy and Thilthorpe be worth on the open market.
And a mid first.Probably 800k
It will be band one money so there doesn’t need to be a trade.Probably 800k
It can be anything. The AFL can decide to give Eagles band 1 compo regardless. It will be band one money so there doesn’t need to be a trade.
Lions have apparently been linked to Oscar since Joey retired last season Hawthorn wants Reid it’s just a smoke screen Mitchell knows what he’s doingAre we sure it was Hawthorn? I'm not in the know but where did the Brissy stuff come from or the reports about his WC offer and desire to stay in if they got closer.
I suspect it might be OA management that is doing the leaking, originally to apply pressure to WC and now possible to save face. Just my theory.
No way. The AFL wouldn't use keeping their formula a secret as a way to just give out whatever they want.It can be anything. The AFL can decide to give Eagles band 1 compo regardless.
How do you know WC have offered him $800k per? over how many years? So he'd be moving for roughly the same that WCE would be offering him?
Right....
Doubtful. He's already on that, or slightly more. How do you know WC have offered him $800k per? over how many years?
If Oscar was offered $800k per x6 by West Coast, I believe he would have signed the day that offer hit his agents desk.
It's the triggers that are the concerns, especially if they reduce the base pay of the contract, to say $600k per. The AFL don't include triggers or bonuses when determining compensation, so why would Oscar consider such an offer.Doubtful. He's already on that, or slightly more.
We're offering 4 + 2 based on a lot of triggers, supposedly.
WCE aren't going to offer their captain less money than he's already on.
Thats exactly my thoughts alsoIt's the triggers that are the concerns, especially if they reduce the base pay of the contract, to say $600k per. The AFL don't include triggers or bonuses when determining compensation, so why would Oscar consider such an offer.
So West Coast aren't offering $800k x 6, they're offering $600k x 4 + bonuses for staying injury free and games played.
So if Oscar really doesn't want to move interstate, he hopes West Coast match Brisbane/Hawks offer and he stays on that.
With the CBA that's highly doubtful. It's the triggers that are the concerns, especially if they reduce the base pay of the contract, to say $600k per. The AFL don't include triggers or bonuses when determining compensation, so why would Oscar consider such an offer.

I mean, if the club really wants him, then they’ll pay whatever is required to trigger band 1 compensation. With the CBA that's highly doubtful.
More like he's gotten offers a couple hundred k more than what WCE are offering, which don't include triggers, for more years.
Knee's about as bad as Kennedy's and he played until what, 33?I mean, if the club really wants him, then they’ll pay whatever is required to trigger band 1 compensation.
I personally have two reservations.
Is Oscars heart really in to moving? Daniher and Dunkley really wanted out of Victoria and to keep playing footy.
All the speculation on West Coasts board is that Oscar doesn’t want to leave WC, but also wants what he considers he’s worth.
Secondly, how bad is Oscars knee? if West Coast are willing to let their captain walk at the end of the season.
Don’t know how bad Kennedy’s was.Knee's about as bad as Kennedy's and he played until what, 33?
Doesn't want to leave but realistically, the club needs him to to get more top end talent onto the list.
Upfront with it to who?Don’t know how bad Kennedy’s was.
So we’re back to WC offering unders to advance their list build.
I’ve no problem with teams letting players go for draft picks, but be upfront about it.
