The SFA's worst kept secret has been that I, PMBangers, have a level of interest in taking on the role of Admin in the next reign, spanning Season's 34, 35 and 36. The worst part about things done in secret is that they're easily misinterpreted and can snowball into wild rumours that aren't of any resemblance to the truth, and because of that I want to get it out there and what my goals are if I was to get the role.
I'll start off by addressing the various concerns I've heard about me, and how they play into hesitancy in backing me to be a fair admin, so lets start off with the main one. PMBangers is too new to the league; Yes it's true, I'm a 3rd season poster currently and will be in my 5th season at the start of S34, and I completely agree in a sense that I'll be fresh to the league in comparison to past admins, but I see this as a positive as much as it is a negative. By the time S34 roles around I'll have spent 1 and a half seasons in the committee, and in that time I'll no doubt witness and take part in the debate around one of the hottest topics the league has seen, and likely will see again in the next admin reign, in Expansion. It may not be a long time in the committee, but it is arguably the most crucial time when serious discussions around league altering concepts such as expansion come up, and that to me is the stuff you need experience in for a bigger role, rather than seasons upon seasons of 'Hey my opponent made a teamsheet error!'
PMBangers crosses the line in his posting too often!; Have I crossed the line before? Absolutely, controversially I think the best posters have all crossed the line at various points, pushing boundaries to fully understand the creative freedom available to them. Do I do it often? I wouldn't say so personally, and it's something I think is up for interpretation, but what I can say is I think the SFA should be a balance where banter is encouraged but posters shouldn't be made to feel attacked for no reason.
PMBangers is bias and it may influence his decision making; Lol, persona wise yes there are certain things, teams and posters I'm clearly and vocally against, behind the scenes where I'm not a persona, which is how I plan to admin, I think I've been as balanced as anyone. At the end of the day, the leagues function and relevancy would be my number 1 priority and that objectively can't be done when holding bias's/ grudges
Now onto my goals, which I hope are mostly universal across all candidates;
1. Increase immersion into the 'world of sweet'; I think as a league regardless of who is admin, there needs to be a conscious effort to start embracing persona and fantasy more on the board, especially within the media space. Without going into it too much, I want to see more focus on the persona-based banter and qooty within match threads, and hopefully find ways to make the sim in general a more appealing focus for media, currently match threads are what I'd consider more a 'general discussion with teams' and I believe this approach has muddied the waters as to why people are attracted to the league.
Within this, as I said in my Elton Johns Wig interview, I'm willing to explore material changes to the sim, for example I'd be up for some more random sim events with a greater effect on individual games, so any injuries would be for the remainder of that game rather than multiple weeks so people don't miss out on milestones.
2. Increase clarity around expansion bid minimum criteria; pretty self explanatory, the specifics can be something that is a committee discussion, but currently it feels like the criteria are merely a checkpoint when there's still a vote on each individual bid that will come forward. For this specifically, I'd look to get a wide range of views to bring to the committee discussion as well, consulting with various posters of different experience within the league
3. Find ways to encourage more quality media contributors; I like the idea of the SMEG to start with and am fully behind that, but I'd also like to be a helping hand to posters that are new to media. Within this I'd like to see what the motivators are for current media mogul's to understand why people may first enter media and what helps keep them going
4. Recruitment; This is broad, I'll start off by saying the Qooty tours are great in theory and have resulted in some great posters joining the league, but if the entire league is focused on recruiting purely from Bigfooty there's a very finite amount of possible recruits and boards. Lets be honest, at this rate most of those active on bigfooty have heard of or been part of the SFA, I'd like to see us attempt to find new recruitment areas, possibly other footy forums for starters
In closing, I think I'm a suitable admin candidate and have a lot to offer within the role, as I've said there's a few posters I really respect and think would be better for it, and if they throw their hats in the ring I'll bow out and join their campaign, but from my discussions with most of those posters that seems unlikely. In saying that, I feel well supported in announcing my intention here and think if it does end up being me in the Admin chair, I'll have the support of many passionate and talented contributors within the league!
Adding on to this, I'm happy to answer questions and queries within PMs if you do want me to answer in a more honest fashion
