This is a really good feature article on Scott Pendlebury from The Age. Worth a read.

What a great article - thx

Could easily see him playing at 36 - 37 - he relies on his Footy IQ which will only increase

Can also see him as a coach

We need to be at the ground to best appreciate his defensive efforts

Respect Burns’ rating of him given who he played with

I think Pendlebury has a bit of Sam Mitchell about him. I'm not sure either has or had a strong connection with the "lads" in their teams, so it doesn't surprise me that neither gets rave reviews from ex-players. Mitchell has that sarcastic side to him and I think Pendles has a bit of it too. I think the players would use words like respect and admire when describing Pendles, rather than love him. It surprises me that he would mentor jordan de goey. Jordie seems to be the type of guy who would see a fart joke as funny....I'd loved to hear those two in conversation. I think his connection with the team has improved in the last few years, and the team accepts that they might look to others like Sidebootton when they are looking for someone to get the party going.

He's a machine in terms of consistency and has what some call "unconscious competence" i.e. he probably couldn't teach others to play the way he does, it's just something he is able to do.

In his younger years he had been described socially as more aloof than friendly. Whatever, people can say what they like. He works hard, leads by example, and does the job every. fn. time. We're lucky to have him and I suspect we might still underrate how vital he remains to this side.

Um....fart jokes are funny.

What a great article.

I've been lucky to have seen some of our greats of the last 50 years, Thommo. McKenna, Wayne Richardson, Moore, Daicos, Shaw, Millane, Brown, Buckley, Swan etc, etc. By the time he is finished, Pendles will stand above them all (if he doesn't already). Its been a privilege to have watched his career unfold.
