Whilst on Tucky, what injury did he recieve in the 1989 GF.. (Ramma, you are barred.. I reckon you will know)

It was 50-odd.....I'm thinking 52 or 56 GH.

Just in case that is correct...what injury threatened his career in the early/mid-'80's??

Sorry under 19's.

And pazza is almost correct - I'm almost certain Tucky played 99 reserves games for Hawthorn. So if you include night games as well as ressies and under 19's he made 604 appearances for the Hawthorn football club.

Remarkable. And that doesn't include practice matches or his 11 games for Victoria.

Not that I would ever doubt you on anything Hawthorn related GH, but 50-odd u/19 games plus nearly 100 reserves = 150-odd pre-senior games at Hawthorn...even at 22 games per year (which was only brought in, in 1972), would mean he would have played nearly 7 seasons before his first senior game, having him start at about 12 years of age!! Doesn't seem right.

Edit: Even allowing for the handful of ressie games he may have played after his senior debut.

:o :o So it was. My bad everyone. I'll stand in the corner for 15 minutes!

Shane Tuck should go OK at Richmond if he stays injury free. Reckon he will play a fair bit of senior footy. Don't expect miracles, but should be solid.

Found this from the HFC Team of the Century section.. Still amazes me...

MICHAEL TUCK
No. 17
Position: Ruck rover
Career: 1972-91
Games: 426. Goals: 320
Captain: 1986-91
Premierships: 1976, 78, 83, 86, 88, 89, 91. Night premierships: 1977, 85, 86, 88. Finals appearances: 39.
Awards: 11-times interstate representative: 1979, 83, 84, All Australian representative.

Holds the VFL/AFL record for the most senior games played after amassing a total of 426 matches throughout his 19-year career. He started off slowly and took several years to secure a place in the senior side and found his niche as a ruck rover. Lean and wiry, Tuck’s phenomenal endurance and deceptive strength made him one of the most valuable players in history. David Parkin was once quoted as having said that Tuck was “one of the best run-on type of player he had ever seen”. Despite his epic career he received few individual accolades – more a reflection of his commitment as a team player than personal ability. Hawthorn’s most successful captain, leading the club to four premierships.

Other stat.. Tuck was made a life member of HFC 12 years before he retired.

Cant find his ressie games tally tho....

Geez what a record!!

7 day premierships!!! Surely noone else has that amount.. or maybe a collinghood player from like 60 years ago.

I didnt dislike Tuck, but as he neared KB's record i judged him to be a hack, out of bias probably, and thought he was carried for his last 2 maybe 3 seasons..

Before i get flamed, i dont believe that anymore, he may have been carried to 403, but another season??

respect to the man for his longetivity, i seriously doubt his record will be beaten, in AFL games anyhow.

7 flags is a record for one player.
So is his 39 finals games.
Neither of those will probably get neared also!!
