Marsh out of the NZ tour?

Not yet but he must be highly doubtful

Marsh, the opener, hurt his back in the warm-up before the third ODI against West Indies two weeks ago and has been hampered ever since. "While he continues to improve there are still some signs of the injury," Alex Kountouris, Australia's physio, said. "He will continue to be monitored before a decision is made on his availability for the one-day component of the tour to New Zealand."

Is he that great a loss though? The perspective from across the pond is that you blokes have a seemingly endless amount of depth. Though, you shall need a suitable replacement, because you know what happened last time you sent an inexperienced team over :p.

Was he ever going to play in the T20s? Can't imagine they'd want to change the Watson/Warner opening lineup.

He rose to prominence in the IPL in T20 - and his innings at the WACA in the Big bash was phenomenal.

Not sure you can split the current openers though

Will be interesting to see how T20 pans out over the coming year - coaching might take an extra dimension if the batting order is shunted around based on the stage of the game

Marsh might be good at 3 if we lose a quick wicket - however if they tee off like last night - you might want White or Haddin slotting in at 3.

Or is the spinners are on someone like Clarke comes to the crease when a wicket falls - or if the quicks are on - you bring in D Hussey.

Or if you are batting 2nd and need 30 off the last 4 - you bring in M Hussey at 4/5 to finish the job.

best thing about the Warner Watson partnership is Warner isnt as good at scoing quickly against spin, so teams may look to bowl spin first few overs.
Trouble is Watson is good at smashing spinners so the plan wont work.
