Not sure if anyone else heard, but last night and again today he basically was saying "there is something not quite right" about the club atm.
Saying our midfielders basically don't run to defend and they literally walk back/watch. He said compared to Hawthorn it couldn't be more different and basically said we've lost our "killer instinct" or "eye of the tiger".

They also had an interesting segment on Beams saying his disposable is predictable going forward and doesn't damage like Jetta etc

Clearly you don't need to be a genius to figure out that we lack confidence and form which has unsettled our side.

We don't have that killer instinct at the moment because we aren't scoring enough and our ball use is terrible compared to Hawthorn. Also, our zone is cut to ribbons far too often which has me believing we need to go man on man across the board.

As for Beams not doing "damage" like Jetta, well he is in Brownlow form, AA form and has been the most damaging player in the comp over the last 10 or so weeks not with just disposal numbers but with goals too. Couldn't be further from the truth that he is not damaging.

The rest is correct but as I said, blind freddy could see all that Robbo said.

Dermott was speaking rubbish last night about Beams' predictability. I was listening to that and actually wondered if he knew what he was talking about. He is a completely different type of player to Jetta. If you asked me, I would rather take the player that doesn't go missing for large amounts of games.

It's easy to say "something is not right" when we have had a couple of poor weeks. I don't pay much attention to what Robbo says anyway. In 2007 he tipped us to win the wooden spoon amd we made the prelim.

A question for Robbo;

How are those Bombers of yours going?

You know the club, the one that was supposed to take all before it this year, the one that at one stage you said would finish top four.

Oh, and while we are at it, how are Carlton going Robbo? You know, cmon, the team you picked to win the flag?

Robbo = irrelevant, he's good for a laugh, he's like the class clown really, you don't take anything he says seriously.

Who is Robbo Captain Obvious?
When we won 10 in a row we didn't hear from him, when we beat Sydney we didn't hear from him. We have gone downhill quickly since that Swans game, and I'm just hoping we can turn it around just as quickly. Look at Geelong. They played like rubbish against us in round 16. Then next week, they came out and dominated that game, and smashed their opposition and have been on a roll ever since. Their opponents that game? Essendon. ;)

the journo im Robbo knows he has to talk about the pies and he seems split, part of him loves them because they have been so good for so long now and another part hates them because of Malthouse

what were they saying about Beams? would have thought he was one that you couldn't really criticise this year

The Beams comment aside, do you disagree with what he has reportedly said? I think he is right. Our midfield has been getting beaten and our zone is getting picked apart (over the last few weeks). Once the opposition gets it in clean possession, they get a lot more possessions in the chain than they used to. It is very frustrating to watch, because we never seem to have easy ball movement into our forwardline, it is always a kick long and arm wrestle for control, then kick long and arm wrestle again... But opposition teams just seem to get the ball and then find their targets and we don't get it back.

I agree, something hasn't been right at Collingwood for the last few weeks...

He's a run of the mill journalist providing an opinion. Why it's even worthy of a thread is beyond me considering each and every one of us has said the same thing at times throughout the past 2 weeks (outside of the rediculousness about Beams that is).

It's not what he has said, it's the way he has said it. He's not saying we have dropped out intensity or have just lost form, he's insinuating that the Cloke issue (and maybe more than that) is having a detrimental effect and that the players have lost all focus because of it.

He wasn't making an analytical statement, he was making a rumour mongering statement, as Robbo and most Herald Sun reporters do.

I saw footage on AFL Insider of how we didn't chase last week, and it was analyzed, discussed and remedies were given, from what I've heard Robinson has given no actual in depth reason or response as to why we have fallen away, all he has offered is "something isn't right at Collingwood".

Please, give us something more, then we may respond with something other then ridicule.

Don't mind critique and all, but over Journalism is just silly. What ever happened to a straight shooting journo reported articles...

our mids are kicking to an out of form forward line. All they do is kick it into the 50 and see it rebound so quickly their heads spin. Theyre probably getting sick of it. I know i am!
Oh and i forgot, Robbo's a flog!

Rubbish. Beams is as damaging as you can get.

on SEN friday arvo someone rang complaining about journos creating stories etc. whoever it was on the radio says 'its only about 1% of journos who do that'.

my thoughts immediately was 'yeah, but thats the herald sun journos. thats the 1% giving everyone the shits'. and thats the problem cos that 1% regretably receive maybe 70% of the exposure, and hence their words are given far too much credence. trash rag run by a trash organisation.

spot on. What little credibility they had went with Sheehan (although he has had his moments as well).

Robbo loves to play the bloke, the lad, the larrakin type of role. He kind of has to, because he's a moron. He has nothing insightful to say and is a flog of the worst kind. It's amazing that he gets a gig as a "writer" let alone seeks respect as one of the top journos. (end of rant)
