Didn’t get cited for this, but did get cited for his 5th tripping offence. He’s only played 34 games!! Although one came as a deliberate kick at Sam Day in pre season so guess it’s not really 5 in “34”. Still though, his tripping is becoming particularly intentional and will eventually do some damage.
Needs to stop being a fine - last I can see he got a week at the Pies for it in 2021 but all fines since then. Where to from a 10k fine (but only 6k with an early guilty plea…on an obvious offence)? Does he get a 15k fine down to 10k or do they just say enough is enough; you are going to injure someone, you can miss games until you stop doing it?
Onto the dives:
There were about 20 dives (on topic: 4 obvious ones from Crows) that were more obvious than Ben Hobbs who got fined after his head collided with Rozees knee. Once I started watching out for it after the Hobbs fine you realise just how bad it is getting - take the Paul Curtis 50m penalty scenario where each player who got “put down” was actually just taking a massive flop. Nearly every player who initiated push & shove shit in every game, bar Harley Reid who was too angry to bother diving at that point, then went down when another player retaliated. It is becoming ridiculous and the AFL needs to instruct all umpires to wait for actual illegal acts before getting sucked in - a push to the chest is not enough.

Yeah pointing out that they continuously went down easy after engaging in pushing is not taking anything away from their win. I don’t even think the umps got sucked in once, and even if they did they were still clearly a 6 goal better side without being at their best. Not like I’m upset after my bottom 2 for 5 years team lost, just a very factual observation that multiple times they went down VERY easy.

Playing for frees has become a blight on the game. It happens all the time now. Are we watching soccer?
Its not just the diving, its also the way players take possession, drop or throw the ball when they feel contact and put their hands up as if they were held without it. Or make no effort to secure possession after a mark so easy 50s are awarded. Even the way some players lead with their head while trying to milk frees for too high, which actually makes the issues with high contact more of a problem for players long term.
Keane's dive was pathetic tho. He deserved the contempt Konstanty showed him afterward and should have been fined.
