Not really footy related but I need some help....

This year I won my work's footy tipping and part of the prize is that the winner gets a lunch shouted for him at a place somewhere in the suburb of the team he supports (doesn't really work if a SA or WA team supporter wins - even Geelong is tough).

Problem is that I don't know many places in North Melbourne that are a) good for a staff luncheon or b) kid friendly - we have lots of staff who, like me, have small children who would be more likely to attend if they could bring their kids. It doesn't have to be the sort of Zagame-ish palce with the whole playground thing happening, just somewhere where if some pre-schoolers were wandering around, no one (staff, parents, kids, other customers) would be too stressed.

Any suggestions??

How about Corey McK's pub, The Leveson? Excellent grub, nice surrounds, and relaxed enough for lunch to have kids there as well. Pool table down the front as well as Plasma screens. You could word them up prior also. Just a suggestion. There are plenty of places in the general North Melbourne area, including the footballers' favourite hang out, Don Camillo's in Victoria St, up from the Vic Market.

Good luck anyway Marstermind

Courthouse Hotel.

Best pub grub in Melbourne, not sure on the kids though mate.

Great food there. But not really the place for kids. Another great restaurant in North Melbourne is Libertine (French food, but more fine dining style).

Your best bet might be something on Errol St. If all else fails, you can end up at La Porchetta :(

Yeah, I'd suggest the Leveson too. Courthouse food is awesome but no really a kiddie vibe. Maybe the Town Hall - they have a big beer garden you could monopolise if its a nice day.

The Leveson would be my first choice although not too sure how it would go with a lot of children. If the group is big enough you might be able to get them to let you have the upstairs room that WANM used for a few meetings.

They were very co-operative with the use of that room back in 2007.

Otherwise I would suggest Errols in Errol Street although it might not be great if there are a lot of kids attending.

Errol's Bakehouse would be ok. They've a room upstairs too (i guess that depends on the numbers you are bringing along as to whether that is appropriate).

The Royal Mail on Spencer St would likely accommodate you and kids too.

Whaaat Kids - can't they stay home. :D Only joking. Guess you'd be planning it on a Sunday?

Leveson would get my vote not having been down there for at least 4 plus years. There used to be a pub where the tram line in Errol street turned into Victoria - The Three Bells?? - it went OK for meals.

It's the Three Crowns. Good meals, well appointed and nice beer garden. Depending on when it is it could be in ideal venue.

Thanks - Thats right....had an office department lunch there one day back in the '90's and as our Manager was a bit of a bar fly we "staggered" out around 4pmish. :thumbsu: - that's another story of where we went after :thumbsu:

The Three Crowns was also the (in)famous venue where Little Boris was filmed wooing a frozen chicken carcass with a glass of white. :thumbsu:

The atmosphere is a bit dry, but if there's a bunch of you it wouldn't matter. Suitable for kids too.

Amiconi on Victoria St, just next to the Three Crowns is fantastic food - bit pricey though.

Would also support suggestions:

  • Town Hall Hotel - good pub grub, nice beer garden, but couldn't hold a big lunch for more than 15 people.
  • Courthouse - great food, pricer than Amiconi, relatively ritzy (for a North Melbourne pub)
  • Royal Mail - good suggestion too

Theres not much on errol st that will suit kids. The only place i can think of where youll be fine is probly the la porchetta on peel st. Have a drive thru errol if u want and have a look.

Amiconi at the end of Victoria Street near the top of Errol is great with kids. I go there with my three all the time
