Gray easily. They really aren't that similar anymore. Breust is (IMO) the best small forward in the comp but Gray is an elite clearance mid/part-time forward with amazing goal sense. If you saw Gray's 35 touch game on the weekend, I don't think this would be a poll. At the moment, Gray is a top 10 player in the AFL and the best player in the top team (and they have lots of good players). Breust is a gun but nowhere near that level

Gray having a stand out season. One is a small forward only the other rotates heavily through the midfield.
Look at this years stats to have a look at the huge gap of this year.

Gray comfortably

Simply not true. Breust goes in to contest the centre bounce numerous times during a game.

Based on this year, has to be Gray.

Midfield possession and clearance numbers, small forward goal numbers. Queries on wether he can keep these numbers up. I think that his goal numbers will drop in the second half of the year, because basically he is a midfielder that rests forward, Ie what Swan was a few years back, but is just having a blinder in terms of adding goals to his game

Bruest is sometimes thrown into the centre for a bounce, but mainly he is a stay at home small forward. Gray I feel is a more similar player to say Daulhaus, Chapman/SJ , Bartel (as a forward), Where Bruest is more similar to Elliot, Wingard, Betts type. Probably not a good comparison.

Both are fantastic players. I'm naturally biased having watched every Robbie Gray game. I'm just so pleased for him that his body is finally allowing him to consistently get on the park and show the AFL world what a highly skilled, creative player he is. This year, the AFL coaches have indicated what sort of player they think Robbie Gray is:

2014 AFLCA votes
Overall Leaderboard
64 – Gary Ablett (GC)
57 – Josh Kennedy (Syd)
56 – Robbie Gray (PA)
52 – Scott Pendlebury (Coll)
46 – Nat Fyfe (Freo)
43 – Travis Boak (PA)
41 – Tom Liberatore (WB), Nathan Jones (Melb)
38 – Joel Selwood (Geel)
37 – Matt Priddis (WCE), Bryce Gibbs (Carl)

Yes hes had a fine year. Has he polled in every game so far?

They're at slightly different stages of their respective career's, but at this stage, I'd take Gray.

Well then if thats the case Robbie by further.
Breust should have more touches, clearances and inside 50s like gray.

I rate Breust but Gray is having a stellar year and is only a few votes behind ablett in the coaches award....

Gray by a mile... Its a shame though that he has only really started his career in the last 18mths after being plagued by injuries. But I look forward to him getting even better.

A smokey for the coaches award I think, and an outside chance for the brown low (assuming ablett get suspended or injured.)

2.5 years and 24 games experience between them. Might as well compare Gray's 2012 with Breust's 2014.

Yeah great idea, compare Breust's 2014 to the year Gray played two games before doing his ACL.

Gray lost a lot of development time the knee and hamstring tears, so their overall development is not far apart at all.

8 seasons in the AFL system vs 5?
Not really like for like.

24 games difference shows just how badly Gray has been smashed by injuries. I was simply pointing out the obvious that you completely ignored.

Either way, Gray is currently better and has a higher ceiling, so Gray now and for the future.

Come on mate im sure Robbie was hitting it hard and improving out of sight when he was out for 12 months with his knee reco.... :s

Maybe a top 10 forward??

Ridiculous comment, he'd be a lock in the All Australian team atm. He's also only 4 goals behind the Coleman leader

There's some pretty good forwards still going around... Franklin, Reiwoldt, Brown, Pavlich etc

Current form though... Yes, He'd most likely be top 10.
