I remember earlier in the year there was a game with a ridiculously low betting odds for the game, don't remember who it was... Geelong vs Richmond perhaps.

Heard on the radio that North vs Carlton that North's odds went down to $1.15 and they were still getting massive bets on North, down to $1.13 atm.

Anyone know what the lowest odds have been before a game?

Remember? It was only a few weeks ago.

Geelong were $1.02 v Richmond. (lowest odds ever)

I guessed it would have been that game, I was out most of that weekend so only heard about the odds during the week.

I don't understand how someone could put money on odds so low.

*Shrugs*

I got on Geelong 60+ even though it was going to be Wet. Just made it :)

Betting against Carlton at any odds is a sure fire way of earning money
Yeah, the tanking factor comes into it. Bet against Melbourne as well.

Geelong weren't 1.02, they were about 1.05-1.06 against the Tigers a few weeks back.

The Eagles were 1.20 against us at Subi when we beat them, then one or two weeks later against the Lions they were 1.09 - and yep, they lost.

Pretty sure West Coast were 1/100 ($1.01) against Fitzroy in Perth in 1991. The line was in the 90's anyway.

Not quite what you asked but it's interesting to remember that when we played them the first time around Richmond started favorites... God only knows how that happened.

I'm just repeating what i heard

They started at 1.08 and it kept shortening to 1.02

Last week Hawthorn were matched at $1.01 on Betfair

I remember an earlier game in the year Carlton V Essendon, Essendon led by 7 goals at one stage, and were matched by significant amount of money at $1.02 , something like 10 k.

All the papers etc that I read had Geelong at lowest odds ever against Richmond. Pretty sure that came straight from the betting agencies as well.

Possibly they meant it was the shortest odds Sportsbet has ever offered. The line that day was Richmond +50.5 so I'm pretty certain it wasn't the shortest odds ever offered by an official betting outlet.

Not sure if the TAB was betting head to head in 1991 - I think you could only back a side to win by a certain points range, e.g. 1-12, 13-24 etc.

In that case the 1/100 would have been framed by Norm Short or one of the other football bookies. The line (or spread - can't remember) was definitely in the 90s. West Coast actually exceeded the line in winning by 99 points.
