How people can get so easily offended by this is baffling. Years ago, some players dressed up as Ricky Nixon and the Stkilda school girl. I think we can all agree that dark humour is often the funniest. But sure, just let them get dressed up as Mario and Luigi or something neutral. Such a joke.

These are examples where I completely agree with you.

But I see it from the AFL’s point of view too. Across the competition they have sponsorship deals in place worth a lot of money. And every single one will have getout clauses in the event the brand is brought into disrepute. And sponsorship contracts do get ripped up.

What would you do if you were an AFL exec and received a call from a club CEO saying they just got a phone call from their main jumper sponsor saying that their CEO had a relative die in 911 and they reckon it was tasteless that players made fun of it and they don’t want to see that behaviour again?

You’ve got a club CEO and a major sponsor paying $$$ getting stuck into you at a time the players want a pay rise. What would you do?

And no, the aflw standard is equivalent to probably under 12 boys. Not joking. Speaking for the majority here, no-one wants it on the afl website. Get their own website just like the wnba.

And no, if im an afl executive I'm not succumbing to that stupidity. Do you think Dana White doesn't talk about his fighters weights? The fact that you even think this would happen is a joke. If clayton Oliver couldn't handle that criticism then he clearly isn't ready to be a professional athlete. And yes, I would tell Oliver and his team to stop being so woke. I'd happily suspend him until further notice. The afl players have far too much power. If I was in charge, this wouldn't even be an issue.

As you say, the standard of commentary is terrible. but that's because of the wokeness and being PC all of the time. Hell the AFL draft comes on and the reality is that 50% of the picks won't make the grade but the commentators bang on like every kid is James Hird. They're too afraid to even mention their weaknesses. The whole industry is cooked. No-one really calls is as it is. Kane Cornes is the closest. When he said that Melbourne's list looked weak and aren't as developed and muscular as other teams I was like 'hooray, am actual option'.

I think Kane has had a poor start. Unfortunately Dillon has also had a very lackluster start and can't sell anything publicly and has made poor decisions. At least Gil could confidentially sell the BS and I felt he was commercially savvy most of the time. Having two people at the top of the organisation who can't get it done publicly and who make poor decisions is bad for the league. You can carry one but not both.

In saying that it is very Bigfooty that posters become irate at the AFL asking clubs to invite some women into the recruiting space. It is very meh. No downside to it, only potential upside, especially if there is something within a club who wants to get into recruiting.

Dillon seems like he's just going through the motions and a bit unmotivated. Never really wanted the gig, was pushed into it coz Goyder had it in for Gale and likely thought a gig like this won't ever come along again, may as well go for it.

With the amount of fat that needs cutting at AFL hq, the fact he never even did a restructure told me he cbf. He feels like an interim CEO, that isn't actually interim.
