This year feels like such a going through the motions year already. We all hope that next year Josh remodels the club in his own (and the club traditional) image.

If he does who will need to go, who will need to lift and who do we think will thrive.

For mine.

He wasn't my top priority, I wanted us to talk to everyone available and cast the net far and wide.

But I can fully get behind Josh Carr because he already feels like one of us and not an imposter like Hinkley:

- Kane Cornes, Rucci, Whateley etc. and all the happyclappers will be extra harsh on him because he's not Ken Hinkley.

- He'll get no such protection from the Victorian media mafia that Hinkley enjoyed, because he was a "thug" who played for not the one, but the TWO most evil interstate teams, and never lived, played or coached inside their Mecca.

- The SA media will be extra harsh on him, not only because of his history in Showdowns but because they all loved Hinkley holding us back as coach for so long.

Im not un happy with him getting the job without us looking elsewhere. I have very very little faith in the clubs key decision makers getting anything right, but for him to have (apparently) been Richmonds top choice with the job his if he wanted it does fill me with confidence.

I have absolutely no doubt we will see a big improvement in toughness and general mentality under Carr, who as we all know was a tough nut, super competitive guy who didn't ever take a backwards step, unlikely with flakey soft guy we've been stuck with for far too long.

Josh is ruthless I am told. But very good a building relationships at the same time. I have high hopes for him as a coach. Honestly cannot wait for Hinckley era to be over.

Hope you are right on both accounts. He was ruthless as a player & was also very talented. If we get the same Josh as a coach I will be rapt.

I’m not giving Carr a pass for this year.

If he’s going to be the coach to win a flag he will find a way to impose his will on this season whether Hinkley likes it or not. Great leaders find a way.

If we get very close, I will allow that Hinkley may have just scuppered us.

He needs to clean out of the whole coaching staff. Retool it with some quality coaches.. a senior assistant and some up and coming coaches

He needs a game plan that stands up under pressure and suits the players we have

Clean out the plying list.. boak, wines, mead, mcentee, finlayson, Williams, soldo.. and get some good solid footballers who can hit targets, players who we know what we are gunna get each and every week.

Sign Bergman

Trade out whoever sooks about Ken going

I’m happy to change the captain as well.. give it to JHf..

I want to be hated again for being a winning club, not a laughing stock

I’m expecting results in the first two years.
Just like the I wish we had Mitchell, McRae, Kingsley.
If they can turn a team around fast there’s no reason Josh can’t with a better list then they had.
No more I wishes, you have your wish now it’s action time.

What you're asking of Carr is to overstep his boundary as senior assistant coach, to the point of being an autocrat.

Like it or not, Hinkley, not Carr, is the senior coach this year. It is not up to Carr or any other assistant to attempt to take control and minimise Ken's role. That would be the quickest way to take away future buy in from the group in the coming years.

First decision should be JHF appointed captain.

Give it to a bloke who is a competitive beast and hates losing. Coach and captain alignment - shame about the president and CEO but it's something

I get that he plays to a level beyond his years and is an on-field leader, but he's only 21 years old. His brain and body aren't even close to maturity, and just by virtue of his age there would be so many life lessons/choices that he simply would not have been exposed to, which in itself makes it that much harder to empathize understand and connect with people just a few years older.

Being the captain is so much more than just stepping up on game day and leading from the front. There's so much more that goes on in terms of the day to day running of the Club, the personal issues they have to deal with, the extra corporate and media responsibilities etc. There is absolutely no need at this point to be putting those extra responsibilities onto his shoulders when he's got such a bright future ahead.

And let's not forget that the best players don't always make the best leaders, and the best leaders don't always need to be in official titled roles either. Robbie Gray being a prime example of the latter.

I don’t buy in “it’s only a preseason trail & it don’t matter”.

We’ve all seen this prequel before….

If we manage to get up to 10 wins that will be a bonus.

2025 will be a shitstorm of melts.

This club, uurrrgghhh:mad:

You wouldn’t think Carr would undermine Hinkley now when he’s a stone throw away from the coaches job.
He’s waited this long so I’d expect him to wait till Ken goes.

Work around! And damn right he should, what happens this year will affect the next.

Low key isn't the point of a 'succeesion' plan so that first year passes aren't a thing

I understand what you’re saying, I agree it’s going to be a frustrating time.
In all seriousness Carr is not going to do anything like that.
He’s not Marcus Junius Brutus.
One of the most famous quotes from Brutus is when he tells Cassius,
"Judge me, you gods! Wrong I mine enemies? And if not so, how should I wrong a brother?

Of course he is, he’s not a fool.

he’s a fool if he doesn’t, which is exactly why this type of thing is stupid.

If the club wasn’t run by total tools they would have paid Ken out this year and started fresh 2025.
There’s no way in hell this set up can be good for the club.

Enjoying Josh's work already...
