News Ivan Soldo's trade to St Kilda falls through

I've got no issue with it. He wasn't happy at Port for whatever reason, he tried to get a trade back to Melbourne, it fell through, he continues at Port. There's been no indications that he isn't well liked by the players or that the club weren't happy with his on field performances. All of the rubbish from Kane Cornes and the rest of them is just noise.

I think if anyone puts forward an offer today his gone. But unlikely with no time for medical on his knee.

Whole thing has been a bit of a media circus focussing around glamorous girlfriend with her of the cuff remarks. Been blown way out of proportion by media who were loving it , News Corp luv this sort of populous raggy crap.

Soon as he gets back to playing decent footy , all will be forgotten. If Sweet were to go down he steps up, we have been caught out before with lack of depth in the Ruck area. I dont want to give him away for a rubbish late pick.

Other than the clear contradiction in his statement, I respect that he's stood up for himself and his partner

Good on him

Now he just needs to put the mouthguard in and fight for his spot to maybe earn a trade next year

I don't care about his reasons for missing the B&F. Maybe he felt awkward about the situation mid possible trade, maybe his latest post is legit, I mean it would be fairly easy to fact check, yeah who knows. I mean the one thing we really know for sure is that Kane is a twat ;)

What I do care about is this word "Ustase" used on here earlier re his alleged off field links. Fascist groups downstream of explicit WW2 Hitler alliances I have zero tolerance for. And yes in the naive Aussie sense I too don't care about his "politics". The (RIP :'() late journo George Negus once said "politics is the best way we have to sort things out without killing each other". Useful boundary embedded in that.

People are ****ing way too hard on this dude for no reason.

Moved interstate to be a starting ruck. He played some pretty good footy for us, but in the end it didn't work out because we traded in someone else alongside him who won out for the starting role. Asked for a trade back, which would probably suit us, it didn't eventuate, and there's no indication he's been anything less than professional throughout.

The stuff about his partner is classic sexist bullshit you see whenever footy is being discussed, and that's as true on this forum as it is anywhere else. People want to be close to their partners. It's normal to have certain lifestyle preferences including what city you live in.

Edit: Not counting the Young Liberals stuff, that's embarrassing. I just mean in relation to how he's been with a club

Port Adelaide ruck Ivan Soldo says he is "honestly fed up with this ridiculous narrative" after his attempt to be traded to St Kilda fell through.

Pretty clear he had a massive sook at the end of the season. Not only did he not make the emergencies for our finals run, I’m not even sure he was at the games.

His man-child character was a red flag even for St Kilda… I’m not sure a Insta rant changes anything. He needs to hit preseason with a fire in his belly.

Or, more likely we’ll see him sulking around in the magoos.

lol the lack of attendance at finals games and his performances late in the season for the magpies suggest he was already out the door. Needs to suck it up and be open minded to the next 12 months.

No point in giving the daffodils any more fodder to play with. I hope he can enjoy the off-season, buckle down, and do what he does best on the footy field.

Is there any evidence that he didn't attend the finals games? As far as I can tell that rumour started when some random on BigFooty posted that after not being able to spot him among the other non playing players in about 45 seconds of footage form the rooms post game.

Even made the national broadcaster's site

Port Adelaide football general manager Chris Davies said Soldo was yet to fully adapt to life in Adelaide.

"I think Ivan hasn't settled in Adelaide the way he and maybe we haven't liked and we have a part to play in that as well," Davies told AFL Trade Radio.

"So we've got to try and help him into the future and settle into the city a little bit more. And if he can't do that, we'll probably be in this situation again next year."
