How would you like our board cover the NHL season in 2014/15

As part of the site-wide feedback threads Big Footy have been going through, I put up the suggestion of breaking up the NHL season thread's into either daily or weekly threads, and Marns has allowed the option to be put to the floor to see how we would like to cover the upcoming NHL season.

Traditionally, it has been one big NHL (season) thread, with a separate thread for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and that's been a pretty simple, yet effective way of covering the NHL on BigFooty.

What I'm proposing is that we break that up into two sections

1 - A general discussion thread, where all non-match discussions take place (things like trades, suspensions, rumours, coach sackings etc)

2 - A match week thread. This will be the home of all match discussions for a particular week of the NHL season. With the season starting Wednesday 8 October, I propose that it operates from a Wednesday-Tuesday cycle (e.g. the first thread would be the 8-14 October Matches Thread), but if people have an alternative idea, put it up and see what everyone else thinks.

For the playoffs, we could go to a thread for each series.

So I put it to the floor. Would you prefer to keep the status quo, or would you like to try this new set up.

It all sounds good.

I'd end the week on a Sunday (usually a quiet day) and kick off the week on a Monday.

it currently works for me - no objections to the new way though

its not the most active board - even if you miss 1/2/3 days, discussion is still sometimes on the same page

We're currently at two votes for each option, so unless a whole host of people voice that they don't want us to do this, I say we give it a shot for the first few weeks of the season and see how it goes.

I like what we have now but don't really care because for 90% of the season I'll be saying woo go sharks and then in the other 10% when we lose 10 straight games I'll be blaming Niemi.

Is this about generating an impression of activity on this board? More threads means more activity means we are relevant? It will be the same amount of activity just with more threads. I regret choosing yes now. I think we should just stick with one season long thread.

No, that's definitely not what it's about. It was just a suggestion from brucetiki in the feedback thread I posted a few weeks ago, that may be worth trying. Seeing as we've always had mammoth season threads, I don't see how it can hurt giving this a shot.
