Actually, I was asking because I was listening to Hamish & Andy on the way home and some guy rang up and said U-RYNE-ALL .. and they didn't correct him or anything so I was thinking maybe it's just a Sydney thing?
Both "u-rin-al" and "u-ryne-al" used in Sydney.
I tend to use the first - the second more is common in posher areas.

How am I the only one who voted for the third option?

And also very incorrect, since there is no "e" in the word to make it rhyme with the "wine" sound.
Snobs may try to justify all their various inflections on "that's how the British do it", but in this one they would be very wrong.
Just so I'm getting this straight, people in Sydney say u-ryne-al with the ryne rhyming with 'whine'?
I guess the argument is what comes out is called "u-rhyne" so where it goes is a "u-ryne-al"
So you didn't pay any attention to what I said?
There's no 'e' in urinal, so that pronunciation would be wrong, regardless of where it came from.
)some do, some don't
I'm not arguing with you - I agree with you. I say "u-rin-al"
Doesn't change the fact that some people pronounce it the other way.
