I'm a big bourbon fan and can drink copious amounts of it and not wake up with a hangover. Will probably still be drunk, but no hangover.

However, if I was to do 2-3 glasses of whiskey I'll wake up with a huge hangover. And if i was to drink as much whiskey as i do bourbon, in a good night, I'd be sick for days.

It's highly likely I'm just a soft-****, but if anybody else has any knowledge on the difference between the two liquids and can help my descent into alcoholic abuse of both liquids, I'd be most grateful. :thumbsu:

Anyone else got issues with these liquids or any other type of alcohols??

Hahaha great thread.

I tend to find that no matter what I drink, I will still end up with a hangover. However, if I get a solid sleep that night there's a good chance the hangover will minimal.

I like to drink myself stupid with beer whilst out as it is a cheap option, but when drinking at a party or with a few mates at home I take the Bourbon option.

Carlton Cold = bad hangover (I hear its all the preservatives...)

I'd rather drink heaps of water before going to bed pissed (and getting up to go to the loo 2-3 times) then wakeup in the morning with a dry-as mouth and a killer hangover.

BTW, it could be preservatives in the other drinks that do it too.

I know that any and every champagne under >$25 gives me a hangover even while drinking a small amount of it.

I think you have it. I find when I drink any of the mid range beers Carlton Cold, TED's, etc.. I always wake up with a huge headache. If I stick with premium beers which have little or no preservatives I am usually fine or just a little weary in the morning. The same goes with spirits/wine I would guess??

There are certainly different ingredients in the two.
Bourbon whiskey is mainly made from predominately corn and is a stronger bold taste, usually sweeter.
Scotch can be made a number of ways, but has a hotter taste, and is made mainly from malt.
Single malt being the best. Your everyday ones are usually a blend of various malts, and a grain component (mainly corn).

You may find that your hangover is caused by the malt, which is the main difference between the two. You may have a level of intolerance to it or maltose.

Impressive & interesting theory. Thanks. Will try to find a way of testing it out.

Have got a few decent single malts. Good thing about my issue, is they are taking their time in being consumed and I'm appreciating the odd glass. However, I yearn for more than one... ;)
