I saw Kane commentary pissed at the Port players staying on the ground for 5 minutes to shake Houstons hand after he finished a TV interview.

Have to agree with him. Stuff Houston, get off the ground. Were way too nice. I wonder who led the hey let's wait for Dan before we go, crickey

Then the kids start playing up and causing old wife & new wife grief, cause they don’t know who has authority

I do like Burgoyne because he wears his heart on his sleeve and was upset at losing, same as the pf. He actually cares which I am not sure anyone else does
Didn't play like he cared...

Listening to Kane's live commentary on AFL Nation, at one point in the second half he suggested that Finlayson forgot he was a defender for the night (and which team he was playing for) by leading up hoping to receive a kick inside 50 from a Collingwood player. Kane pressed the point and said he noted the timestamp down to be clipped during the week. I notice it didn't make his Volcano on First Take, though...

Lineup needs a shake up. I know Hinkley sucks but ffs, Wines in the ruck? Desperately need another tall in because Luko, Georgiades, and Finlayson cannot hold down key positions. And Aliir struggled as the sole anchor in defence.

The midfield is toothless and sloppy. Mead is just plain average, I don't mind him, but he doesn't excel at anything. Can't have him, Wines, Boak, and Drew all doing similar things. He had a nice run through the middle of the ground late but he needs to make way for a Lorenz or Jackson.

The forwardline (sans Luko and Georgiades) is fine. Guys like Rioli and DBJ did the most with their chances, while Richards and Berry are good link players (when there's linking to be done instead of shitty handball chains and panic kicks).

And finally, Lachie Jones needs to be dropped. Idgaf who replaces him, just get him the fk out. It's embarrassing that this man cannot catch a flipping ball.

Watching a few of the clips from Montagna really showed how little the midfield put in. Crazy stuff.

It was embarrassing to watch with not a defensive bone in their bodies.

Kingy said that that attitude had seeped into the players because of the off field stuff and it wouldn't surprise me.

The boys will be absolutely desperate to pummel a young Tigers side at home. If Yze decides to hatch a defenisve, pressuring plan against us, it could get ugly.

The worry here is that Josh Carr is the midfield coach, and soon to be head coach.

That was insipid.

To add insult to injury, some of our players were smiling and hugging the opposition after the game instead of lowering their heads and walking off the ground in shame - for f***'s sake, we even had the coach smiling as he talked with the opposition coach!

Would Jack Cahill or Choco have done that?

It doesn't matter if it is the first game of the season, the 15th or the last, it's an honour to wear the Port guernsey and you must bleed for it; our players just don't get it.

We must get rid of those who have lowered our standards and principles. The young ones around here and some of the older heads may have forgotten, but we forced our way into the VFL/AFL because of our success based on the Port Adelaide way of going about things. We are not that club any longer.

"Want to win trophy's", "best win loss ratio in the league", "succession plan" ....... f**k off!
Unfortunately it's too late, that is our culture now, premierships are not a priority at Port, being liked and loving the coach is.

When was the last time any player or coach said they want to be successful for the club and it's supporters, a 91 point loss and no one said I feel for the fans, they are a selfish football club and insulate themselves from any criticism.

Such a talented player. Such a shit attitude. Depressing stuff, it's going to take years to turn the club culture around.
He got the `curtain' circumstances bit right, that feeble effort against the wobblers brought down the curtain on the season after only 1 round, and highlighted the absolutely ridiculous decision to give hinkley a farewell tour in 2025.

I thought Mead was good in the final quarter showing he's mentally stronger than others - he was one of the only ones (other than Boak) who could successfully lay a tackle. Agree that Sinn was reasonable, in a game where the oppo kicks 10 in a row playing in defence is never going to be pretty.

That's Mead for you, and he's not alone in that regard.

When all heat is out of the game he's okish, but when it's real he is nowhere to be seen.

It's been mentioned several times in this thread - a concerning part about post game was that the players seemed unbothered about getting blown out 90+

Burgoyne looked pretty cut, like after the pf, because I suspect he is the only player who remembers what this once great club used to be

We really are cucks for Collingwood

Collingwood are a bog average side if you keep the ball out of their hands by not turning the ball over and capitalising on your forward entries, which ironically enough are a Ken Hinkley specialty.

90 odd points from turnover and the amount of scragging, pushes etc Collingwood were allowed to get away with in the first half to allow another Collingwood player the chance to win the ball really set the tone for what was an annihilation.

Make of the straggling what you will, but if one teams doing it and getting away with it, the other team has to do it to to even the contest up, turn the player with the arm and get them off balance.

Patches in the first half looked OK moving the ball, but you are always going to look like turd and make Collingwood look good if you turn the ball over against them often enough.
