Saw David King on First Crack tonight suggesting that it was time for Melbourne to 'Break up the Beatles' and trade one or more of Gawn, Petracca, Oliver and/or Viney in order to commit to a rebuild while they still have value. We know Petracca and Oliver tried their luck last year and the Dees decided to hold them to their contracts and there's been rumours that Kozzy Pickett also wanted to be traded. There are two more drafts before Tasmania receive their entry package into the league so logic would dictate that this year would be the very last opportunity for a club to commit to a rebuild before it's too late.

So, do you think it's time for the Dees to break up the Beatles?

The problem with doing it this year is Petracca and Oliver you would assume will only go to clubs near the top and in a heavily academy smashed draft, the picks they could get back off those teams will be ordinary and likely in the 20s. Its also not meant to be as stonger draft.

They had their chance with Oliver 2 years ago. Won’t get anything for him now. Gawn is 33 - great player but will get nothing in a trade.

Petracca was the one last year.

Might as well roll with em now.

But none of them can go at all defensively so they will get absolutely smashed by the top mids anyway. If they are bottom 4 with them, whats the point. Kosi will make a big difference when he comes back, but hes probably leaving anyway.

It's round 3 ffs.

Do we need a thread every time some flog in the media makes a sensationalist statement designed to grab headlines 6 months before anyone can do anything about it?

Missed their chance last year. Clarry still looks like a fridge out there so he'd be worth SFA compared to his best, Trac just doesn't look quite the same physically and he looks absolutely miserable out on the field. Gawn 33.

Tough situation for the Dees if it persists.

holding on to players for dear life who want to leave is dangerous.
Brand Petracca signed a big fat contract and now he is having a big fat sook about it. He looks miserable and I'm here for it. I hope we hold him to his contract and he spends the next six years depressed about it.

A red headed fridge? They’ll have to trade him on Facebook marketplace at this rate

That's an easy fix, just need to get him back on the methamphetamines.

You’re a hard man for a bloke that won you a flag, a Norm Smith and the medical staff tried to get killed last year. Poor bloke is probably still a bit messed up

For the record we've tried to kill him twice now. There was an incident at a swimming pool a few years ago too.

He's had a wild ride as a Demon.
