Can’t remember all the details

There is no way he should play again this year no matter what a court says.
Plus I'm sure the Eagles would not want that sort of distraction if and when they should make a prelim or a grand final.

Basis for this rumour may be another rumour that the Surgeon who operated on Brashaw's jaw may have stated that the damage done by Gaff was exaggerated by the Dockers medicos at the tribunal and in the press.
It may have been a hairline fracture, one dislodged tooth and three damaged teeth plus the obvious cuts and bleeding - not the damage that was stated in the press at the time.
Not that any damage is acceptable and Gaff still should have got his whack regardless.

Just repeating a rumour so don't shoot the messenger - but Brayshaw did seem to be talking a lot easier when interviewed shortly afterwards than one would expect from the damage apparently done according to the press at the time.

I’m pretty sure this caller alluded to the timing of the court action being important and that it wouldn’t happen until the Wed of the prelim

I love a good conspiracy ( of which this is ) and its possible he has been keeping a very low profile all this time so as to have a crack at the finals ? could possibly contest the big suspension for a mistake.

Pretty sure he is keeping a low profile because he is with his sick dad right now.

There is nothing in this rumour.

if true why would you wait? not to open old wounds?
I'm sure its not true but the reason to wait would be to let the heat go out of it and hopefully let Brayshaw's jaw heal so people forget the horrific images.
Just look at Steve Smith etc. when that happened people were for calling for life bans - same people six months later suddenly a lot more forgiving.

As I said before - why would the Eagles put all that pressure on themselves and risk alienating every opposition supporter in the country (along with a few of their own) by going down that path at such a crucial stage of the season.

Agree no way we would go down that path

This is even less believable than the "Gaff to Melbourne with a side trade" thread that the OP admitted was made up.

Any appeal should have been lodged the day after the Tribunal decision.

If the appeal is going to be based on fresh evidence, it should be lodged immediately on that evidence being discovered. If the Eagles had such evidence and sat on it for three weeks until the week of the prelim just to get some sort of strategic advantage (which is unclear to me how that'd even come about), they'd get short shrift from the court.

Think someone is a bit confused... media stated over the weekend that Gaff will be back in Perth for the final - aka to watch it.

That being said the usual time limit for appeals is 28 days which would be around September 4 (the Tues before the final)...

But imagine the media shit show - NO THANKS!

Surely if he was going to appeal, Eagles QC would not have told the media he wasnt appealing...likewise they would have done it earlier so as not to disrupt the team heading into the finals
