IMO the problem is a mental one so I'm not sure the tactical changes will fix that
there's a lot of underlying issues here that have all come to a head basically at the same time.

an aging squad which hasnt been refreshed enough the last couple of years due to mostly sentimentality. lots of tired legs and a poor pre season. having the whole team built around rodri and no plan b. lots of content players who have won everything there is to win, some who wanted away and were talked around to staying when we probably should let them go. plus after a couple of losses the confidence has plummeted as they really havent experienced struggles like this.

then throw in possibly the most stubborn successful manager in history who'd probably rather walk away from the sport than change his tactics and it really is just a perfect storm right now.

Pep and the squad held on to see off Klopp but it looks like that was their last hoorah (for the more senior ones).

A few smart signings for next season and they can challenge again. Midfield and wings look a bit dicey, then Walker needs a replacement.

The title was gone weeks ago, but think we're at a big risk of missing top 4 unless things change soon.

Everton next and on current form they'll be a strong favourite.
Lmao, understand City are awful right now but Everton is the perfect bounceback game for City to collect 3 points and have a merry new year.

You guys will smash us, re-gain form and fight for Top 4 into next year, Everton are coming at the perfect time to help you.

Yep Everton will be the usual danger game for Liverpool but should roll over for City.

if Everton stack their midfield they're a real shot.

That would be appreciated if you could sort that for us.

honestly listening to pep just then it kind of reminds me of west coast's downfall, a similarly ageing/unfit squad with a manager that just wants to 'back his players'

Not sure Everton have the players to attack City's weaknesses defensively. Could be a real chance of a 0-0

I was also thinking Clarkson last few years at Hawthorn when players were kept a lot longer than they should have been. The game plan also became stale and boring to watch

Didn't the United fan in the last thread say the exact same thing?
