My early ladder predictions. Some bold calls, wanted to have some to make it unique and interesting. Not just having the same top 4, top 8, bottom 8 etc. 11th to 8th will be very close I reckon. Big year for us I am feeling, playing safe by putting us at 5th. We might just miss top 4, even though many people have us there.

18. Adealide
17. Gold Coast
16. Hawthorn
15. North
14. Pies
13. West Coast
12. St Kilda
11. Carlton
10. Essendon
9. Geelong
8. Fremantle
7. Richmond
6. Brisbane
5. Sydney
4. GWS
3. Port
2. Doggies
1. Melbourne

1 - Melbourne (would take a colossal injury crisis to stop them going back-to-back IMO - they're miles ahead of the rest)
2 - Port Adelaide (Pretenders - H&A season specialists)
3 - Geelong (Their home ground always makes them look like a 3-4 win better side than they actually are)
4 - Western Bulldogs (That stat about sides losing by 8+ goals in a GF not getting back there will continue)
5 - Fremantle (They'll be a good side who I can take solace in knowing I'll never see win a flag in my lifetime)
6 - Brisbane Lions (Missed their window IMO - their decline begins here)
7 - Sydney Swans
8 - St Kilda (They aren't as good as they seemed in 2020; they aren't as bad as they looked in 2021 either)
9 - Essendon (Overrated)
10 - Carlton (George Hewett)
11 - GWS (Overrated)
12 - North Melbourne (Really rate their midfield group)
13 - Richmond (In that unfortunate phase where they will want to push for a flag before realising they need to rebuild, like us in 2019)
14 - Hawthorn (Really rate their youth; their senior core sucks)
15 - Collingwood (Self explanatory)
16 - Gold Coast (Shambles on and off the field)
17 - Adelaide Crows (Self explanatory)
18 - West Coast (Their list is dogshit and only going in one direction)

As for us, reckon next year we will have some growing pains. Probably still get around 14/15 wins, but it will be the step backward that we need to take in order to take the ultimate step forward in 2023.

Okay, I'll have a fantasy pick... just keep in mind, I only watch Swans games, so I've seen very little of all these teams...

1. Brisbane
2. Melbourne
3. Sydney
4. Port
5. Bulldogs
6. Essendon
7. Saints

18. Collingwood

I think both Richmond and Geelong are on the decline (lost a significant amount of experience (I thing)) and will slide down the ladder.

I also think St Kilda & Freo are on the move up the ladder, and will bounce back after last year to make the 8. Carlton to just miss the 8, but also on the way up.

Also tipping the Suns make a move this year... this will be Dew's 5th year as coach

I am still rubbing my eyes over this season. A heck of a lot went our way with injury and the youngsters played out of their skins, embracing the game plan as buffed and polished by Pyke. We attacked and defended in equal measure.

We lost two terrific core players and gained a very promising player during the trade period. We picked up some exciting prospects in the draft. Sheldrick has the body and skills to make an impact in one of our weakest areas - clearances, esp. centre bounces.

The terrific training reports we are getting suggest tweaks to the game plan.

I think we will do well to back up in 2022. In making the following predictions I of course gave more thought to where we might finish.

1. Port
2. Melbourne
3. Brisbane
4. Freo
5. Geelong
6. Richmond
7. Footscray
8. Sydney

West Coast as wooden spooners is a big call.
With the talent on their list, Carlton should play finals.
I will be very surprised if Geelong make top 4 next year. In fact, I believe they may even miss the eight all together.
Logic says that Melbourne should go back to back but history has shown that is much easier said than done.

West Coast will look like an EJ Whitten Legends team next year, and they have got absolutely nothing coming up underneath. Garbage list IMO.

Weasels will drop further. Just a very slow team.
Carlton's list is all icing and no cake. I cannot see them making the 8.

I don't rate Carlton. Everyone talks about the talent on their list. They've had that chatter about them for years. They sacked their coach and they're delusional.

On paper Carlton has a better midfield than us, they did have a better backline with Jones playing now its a bit less clear but I think they edge us there, the only clear edge we have is our forward line is better (our forward line is better than nearly everyone). Keep in mind this is just all on paper, execution is everything.

Voss will be an upgrade on Teague I reckon. I think his successful assistant coaching experiences will prove to be a huge difference between next year and his Crazy Vossy days.

In theory they really should be a lock for the 8, but because it's Carlton you cant give them anything.

1. Port.

Home & Away specialists. They will finish top.
2. Lions

Also play good H & A. The Gabba is a fortress and they are a good side.

3. Dees

A great team all up. I see them as premiership favs

4. Swans

Weare good enough to go top 4. Need to learn how to win finals again though.

5. Bullies

They are also a very good side. I thi k they lack a few things though. Two way running is a problem. Backs are succeptable.

6. Essendon

They have renewed their list very well. They have now got some forwards.

7. Richmond

Making up the numbers in the eight

8. GWS

They just lack in the midfield. The have a star studded midfield that just goes missing far too much. Two way running is a severe problem.

9. Freo

They may well make the Eight. They are very close.

10. Hawthorn

They are not as far away as people think

11. Carlton

They have a good list. But MB aybe lacking true grit. A bit soft

12. Cats

On the way out. Far too old.

13. Crows

Still in a big rebuild. Bye bye Taylor in 2023. Need to get new forward set up right without Walker.

14. Suns

Better than this year but not much.

15. Norf

They played pretty well for a bottom side

16. Eagles

Just ran out of puff. Old, slow and far too static. They have had the same game plan for so long other sides know what they will do before they do it. The other thing wis the line up is towo static.

17. Pies. They have some players. But my problem with them is the disarray. I'm sure McRae will work hard but I think he has his work cut out with the ego based atmosphere.

18. Saints. Why are they here? Look at who they traded in. That is why. They wanted a quick fix for a premiership but what they got was a group of injury prone, overrated players. The atmosphere at the club has not changed. They still have a bad vibe about them. They will be found out in zmost positions. Membrey, Rider and a few other boys will try hard but the party boys are still running things.

Don't use line breaks between thoughts unless necessary. Makes it unreadable and too scrollable.

OK. Nuts on the line.
Last year's H&A top 6 were clearly better than the rest. 4 of the 6 have either improved or held the line with their lists.
Dees, Dogs, Lions, Swans.
Not talking about draftees but ready to roll players. Geelong not so much, but still look pretty potent. Port have gone backwards a little. However, I think all 6 will make the 8.
The next two are much tougher.
Who won't. Hawks Pies, Saints, North, Suns, Crows.
Who might. Bombers, GWS, Freo, Eagles, Tigers, Blues.
So for the last two spots I'll go with Bombers and Freo. Both were on an upward track and Freo have brought in some ready to go talent.
On paper, the Blues should be a pick but they know to fail when it counts. GWS are still potent and will be thereabouts again, as are the Tigers.

Don't disagree with much of what you have said other than St.Kilda will certainly not finish last imo. I think that is a major over reaction.
Similarly, although I agree that West Coast's premiership window has well and truly closed, I don't believe they will fall that far. Too many probable wins at home for that to happen.
You make the comment that the dog's backs are susceptible. Surely no more so than ours?

Dogs and dees best 2 list atm

if dogs young Talls ( juh and Darcy )get going they will be a formidable outfit IMO

That's a ways into the future though considering you're talking about a 19 and 18 year old.

I also don't see anyone ever beating Melbourne's midfield as long as Gawn is fit (which I think could be for another 2-3 years)

Can't buy into Freo. They had a terrible record against good teams this year and cant trust them on the road.

If that aint the definition of flat track bully I dont know what is.

Wins:
Adelaide
Collingwood
Gold Coast
GWS
Hawthorn x2
North Melb
Richmond
Sydney
West Coast

Losses:
Brisbane x2
Carlton x2
Essendon
Geelong
Melbourne
Port Adelaide
St Kilda
Sydney
West Coast
Bulldogs

Ah but scaryness, they will get better at flat track bullying. The competition is weak enough that you can be middle of the road and still end up in the eight
