Despite Marcos taking Duterte's daughter as his VP, these two were always going to feud eventually, because their egos are too big stand each other. This is essentially a US-China proxy war given their very different foreign policies. Will it spill over into actual bloodshed given both have fanatical supporters and Duterte is threatening secession for Mindanao?

Any Philippine Civil war will draw in Malaysia into the southern Philippine Islands as Islamic piracy is a massive (and under-reported) problem there.

This is going to lead to a lot of confused MILFs. Mindanao autonomy if not secession was always their desire, but as an Islamic state.

great..... another civil war

Well, the civil war hasn't happened yet, but Sara Duterte just lit a fuse.

In a dramatic sign of a widening rift between the two most powerful political families in the Southeast Asian nation, Duterte told an early morning press conference that she had spoken to an assassin and instructed him to kill Marcos, his wife and the speaker of the Philippine House if she were to be killed.

“I have talked to a person. I said, if I get killed, go kill BBM (Marcos), (first lady) Liza Araneta, and (Speaker) Martin Romualdez. No joke. No joke,” Duterte said in the profanity-laden briefing. “I said, do not stop until you kill them and then he said yes.”

Leaving aside how bizarre it all is, the Marcos-Duterte rivalry is basically a proxy for the USA vs China.
Absolutely correct. The sections of the Philippino bourgeoisie who are in favour of a closer orientation to China are represented by Duterte, while those who are aligned with US capitalism are represented by Marcos. The military hierarchy (the high ranking generals) are generally on the side of Marcos, since their history consists of training in US military academies and education in the mechanics of pro US geopolitical strategy.
