Bring it on! A top of 34 degrees today blimey. Made the trip across the border - and taking the whole family along to Norwood. Can’t wait!

Looking fwd to seeing how JJ goes. And Cooper debuting @ Coopers will be special.

Dogs by 8. Will run them off in the 4th and be smarter with our entries into the 50.

Also heading to Norwood with the family today, its going to be a warm one for sure. Hopefully they still have the Coopers flowing otherwise will need to make do with CUB.
Oval surface looked mint yesterday, should be a contested type of game which hopefully suits us.

This is a monumental task against the reigning premiers who are used to playing in hot conditions. To progress to being a top team, we need to address two fundamental tactical weaknesses. Firstly, avoid kicking countless high balls to our forward line hoping that Darcy marks everything that comes his way, a tactic that might even worsen now that he is the obvious successful go-to marking forward. Secondly, fix the game plan that constantly allows oppositions to run through the centre corridor and kick easy goals against our out of position defenders.
Watching Geelong last night you can see how they stick to their long successful structures to avoid both of the above faults. With their more measured delivery and forward spread they allowed Dangerfield to weave his magic and basically win the game for them. So, our coaches have some work to do to improve both our forward efficiency and team defence.

34c is gonna be taxing to play in. Does that favour Bris, dunno, been watching their recent temps up there and they haven't been much different from here in Central vic.
Loyalty says Dogs, the scales say Bris.
Go Dogs.

They had a very humid one against the eagles couple weeks back

A bit of sad trivia re today's game, on 12 April 1975 Neil Sachse was paralysed in a collision while playing against Fitzroy at the Western Oval. Today, exactly 50 years later "Footscray" again plays "Fitzroy"
I remember reading about Neil when he died in 2020. Terribly sad story. Life is bloody cruel sometimes.

I was at this game and can remember this sad incident.

Was at the game. Saw Neil (and Peter Featherby) debut the week before as our new prize recruits. Both were solid, if unspectacular, in their first games. Round 2, Featherby racked up disposals and Sachse was looking good as a rugged player, happy to take on opponents. Until that final minute... 😢

We didn't realise the seriousness until we got back to my mate's Dad's car and turned on the radio. It was devastating. And Laurie Sandilands kicked 8 goals in a good win, which is largely forgotten.

Neil Sachse was an inspirational campaigner for the rest of his life though. Befallen by tragedy with a young family, but a life well-lived.
