I'd like to be able to test a system for AFL punting that I've developed. I've tested against 2009 using the odds in Bigfooty tipping from Sportingbet and it looks promising , but can't find any consistent from previous years.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I'll ask if I'm allowed to publicise our Weighted Average Prices (WAP's) from every match - should get the OK as the odds have been published in the last two editions of the AFL Annual Almanac in book/paper format for sale.

If yes, there'll be data back to 2006.

Johns Harms is the editor, last year's cover is an "oil-painting" like picture with Richo standing alone.

Could be called "2008 Footy Almanac" or something similar - basically a 2-2 page write-up on every game played.

Jan, just wondering how you went with making the odds available? I've found 07 and 08 copies of the almanac fairly easily, but am still after the 06 and 09 odds.

Any assistance would be appreciated

This came up when Googling...

Let me know if anyone is still keen... I'm trying to build a database of betfair odds going back to 2004... I've also got odds 1999-2003, 2005-2011 for Pinnacle I believe.

you should be able to export it to a csv shouldnt you? depending on how you extracted it.

i have back to 2003 but no pinnacle lines, although i wonder how useful they would be going back to 2005 because i would imagine they would have taken very little action on it back then meaning the lines might be off by a fair way, could be wrong though.

Yeah but its all jumbled up with all other sports. I can pay, but at 12p a game it adds up (185 * 5 * 12p, almost $200 aussie). Stacks of data there as well to wade through. Furthermore, do I want a weighted price or the last traded price?

I now have lines 2005-2011, just tidying up now. Appears to be a "mix" of pinnacle and other books though. Think best think to do would be to "gross" odds up to a 0% book then subtract a 5% commission (e.g. assume betfair).

Also got margins 2004+, have started on this yet though.

If you want 1999-2002 odds, PM me and I'll send them though.

oh i didnt realise you were paying for it, id definitely take the closing price/line, its going to be the most useful for using in a database.

Filtered all the betfair data back to 2006 for all AFL markets... All are free to PM me for this... Is around 9 meg zipped up, 107 when it isnt. 471,456 rows!

Includes WAFL/SANFL/Foxtel Cup etc. as well as Brownlow markets, etc.

Bump.

Does anyone know what the Footywire lines represent? Are they openers, closers, or just what the line was at some time in the betting week?

Footywire lists St.Kilda as $1.67 (-5.5) for round 23 last year against the Dockers. That looks like the closing line to me, as the Saints opened at above $3.

Hi guys,

I'm testing an AFL model I've created and have managed to do it using the opening and closing lines for 2013 found on aussportsbetting.com.au, has anyone got opening and closing lines/totals for previous seasons?

Thanks
