You have the two best bowling attacks in the world bowling with balls that do a little off the seam. That makes for a dangerous thing to bat against. When you are bowling, you only want it to do a little off the seam, not much, just a little, straighten it up and the edges come.

The guys bowling, hit the seam more than others, so the game might not last 5 days...and I'm OK with it, this is a test match...and this is a test, what footwork are you going to use to combat it?
A little off the seam? I've seen less seaming on a burlesque dancer's dress.

Being international i dont get the cricket telecast anywhere. So is the pitch terrible or the batting just awful from both sides?
Combination of bad batting, and balls which are designed to seam like a burlesque dancer's dress.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with the pitch. It's not a raging green top. There's no swing or spin. It's just seaming to the point of unplayability, due to quality bowling with the newly re-designed Kookaburra balls.

Entitled to your view but playing the game I do not think it was that bad.

As someone who has always been an allrounder (and not just in shape) the batsman in me thinks "how do I play this and succeed" whilst the bowler in me is thinking "keep the seem upright idiot"

Doesnt help we have limited red ball prep

I still don't get how Bumrah gets the pace he does from that run up. Other guys are running 30+ metres and are running at a fair clip to bowl that pace and he really does amble up off ten steps like he is going to bowl 120k.

I want to bowl like him...I mean I do, I probably take 10 steps...it's just the rest of it I haven't got down pat

He gets injured a fair bit, he probably puts a fair bit more strain on his body at the point of release. The only quick bowler I can think of who ambles in like him is probably Spencer Johnson.

Wasim and Waqar came in off shortish run ups but they hustled in.

Five years ago he's turning that off the stumps into the leg side for runs.

Reflexes have now diminished to the extent he can't even get a defensive bat on it.

Yep he's always walked in front of the stumps, the issue is now his reflexes are gone makes him very easy to get out.

Cummins and Starc can bat.

This issue isn't the tail, it's the top half
Cummins is limited but makes the most of what he has. Starc could bat at one time, hasn't really done anything for a while though. I think it's more a lack of lower-order bashers that I'm noticing. In past years the innings would be over by now, but maybe someone would have put one or two over the fence in the process.

You're right though. It's not their job.

You know it's not a good Australian side when there are this many SA players as a part of it.
You think the SA players are the problem?

Seriously?

If Smith (or Marnus) fail in the 2nd innings, we may as well bring in Konstas to open & play McSweeney at 3/4 in his preferred position.

Pity Green is injured.
