If they don’t offer a solution people who want to experience old games just use emulation. They might anyway given some implementations are poor.

There's too much money in remasters and remakes, and zero money in backwards compatibility.
Take something nostalgic, wack some HD graphics on it and watch people pay for it all over again. Rinse & repeat every 10 years.
