Clarko has more premierships to his name than Noble had years as a coach, and the players would be well aware. Apples and oranges.
Sure. But that doesn't mean that some players are suddenly going to stop being thin-skinned snowflakes just because the spray is coming from Clarko rather than Nobes.

Effort is unconditional. This is what we have been saying for months. You cant fault the first quarter, then after quarter time they just didn’t put any effort in whatsoever. It was insipid and heartless. If you dont want to be a football player, put ya hand up and **** off so we can get some players in who want to play footy.

pretty much this

“They are kidding themselves if they think that’s going to be tolerated at Nmfc” says David King

So what now?
But it is tolerated at NMFC - has been for 4 years now.

Disgraceful efforts by some senior players in that First Crack footage, including the so-called game day Captain. Could have easily smothered, put body on there.

There is no consequence whatsoever for poor effort. Our approach is "Just turn up and see what feel like doing at any given moment. Sh*t happens, we get it, you can't try all the time".

So over it.

I get the feeling the afl communicated to clarko and our leadership to not go out of our way to rough up the sook

At least I hope that’s what happened otherwise weak by us

It's interesting. I stood next t Jmac a few years ago after a bad loss and he was saying that supporters think they don't care. And explained how much he was hurting about result.
But then apparently someone ran into Curtis Taylor last week and asked how he was travelling. He supposedly said he was flying and smashing his KPIs....

Pretty damning from Simpkin to be honest. I know he's not alone but I expect better efforts from him.

McKay's effort - putrid. Bruise free football as a 200cm 100kg defender :$
Absolutely - Simpkin's example of not putting in the quick steps to man up and deny easy uncontested marks or pressure the ball handler is typical of our side and the main reason we're so uncompetitive. We can't get the opposition to turn it over because we're like witches hats. They're either not fit enough or lazy or both. He won the 3km time trial in preseason - pretty sure that's a useless indicator.

Zurhaar stands around more often than not - then he'll do a couple of chase down tackles once a month when he feels like it. But most of the time there's no pressure from him.

But it has been tolerated for weeks now.

Im sorry, but Clarko had to set some standards early on to not let this group scale back into old habits, but here we are.

Can he bring us back? Thats the question. The effort over the past month is getting worse and worse, its almost like all of them dont even want to be out there and its destroying our confidence.

Ive also stated that the work rate without the ball has to be equal to when you have the pill. You don’t need skill, you don’t need elite talent, all ya need is 2 legs and two arms.

I agree. When we all put in effort, a lot of players go up a level. Our first 2 rounds we look like a completely different side to now. Its disgraceful

Kingy ripping right into the players for lack of effort; showed poor clips from McKay, Corr, Simpkin, Zurhaar, LDU.

I agree with him, higher standards are needed.
I find it incredible that you have a coach like Clarko come in and they still dish up half arsed efforts! Just shows they haven’t got a clue how hard you have to work to win. Half the players just don’t have it in them - they don’t have that hunger and desire to win at all costs in their psyche.
