Those photos of her in the "minefield", while they raised awareness of the issue actually did more long term harm than good. A mate of mine ran a private landmine clearance charity and he found that funding dried up after they were published, with people choosing to donate to Red Cross, where the money was dispersed over a wide range of humanitarian activities and didn't always end up facilitating landmine clearance, rather than the smaller charities where the money went directly to UOD clearance projects.
