Absolutely no need for that. Should be a number of weeks. Face down on the ground, if you have one arm just restrained he's not getting rid of it - by chicken winging he's at risk of serious injury for no reason.

I'd say 3-4 weeks, especially to deter it in future. Simply giving him 1 week because Ginnivan was OK isn't enough. Punish the act not the outcome.

I’m not sure how they define it, but he didn’t even have his arm as he tackled him did he?

Grabbed it when he was on the ground. Is there danger in that realistically for the tackled player?

It's not a dangerous tackle rule, it's a misconduct rule.

Yes there absolutely is danger in having your shoulder/arm/elbow (whichever part) twisted that way.

Isn’t that how we end up with inconsistent tribunal rulings? By all means suspend him if it falls within the actions that warrant it, but make it consistent with other suspensions

Does it going straight to the tribunal mean it’s a min 2-3 weeks off the bat?

Big danger....forced internal rotation, could have easily injured a rotator cuff.

You wrench on the arm like that enough and it'll tear the tendons in the shoulder.

Cyril Rioli did this every week and got charged like once. Not a big precedent for a ban
Rioli grabbed an arm in the tackle. He never wrenched the arm. The media had a hard on for any negative hawk articles at the time, and linked what rioli did with chicken wing tackles.

A chicken wing is like this, when a player is face down, and you wrench his arm upwards.

Judd got 4 for one didnt he?
Judd got 4 and injured the blokes shoulder (he didn’t play the match out, not sure if there were any further implications from it though.

The guy is delusional if he thinks Rioli did it to this degree ‘weekly’ though.

There were many occasions where he wrenched the arm too far and behind the back.

He famously shortened Robbie Warnock's career by pulling his shoulder out with this exact action. Warnock had shoulder problems for the rest of his career.

At least your user name is apt.
He grabbed an arm in a tackle. I remember the warnock incident. Rioli had the arm and wanlock was running. How dare rioli not let go of a tackle they said!

Judd got 4 for a more violent one

This could be 4 considering game is softer

Thinking 2 for this one though
