A fair bit of backslapping will be taking place at the ICC. Everything went exactly as planned.

Farcical tournament with a farcical result that will continue to grow Indian fan shoulder chips when they get zero respect from other cricket fans for the win.

At least Virat provided a lol.

Another thing about Phillipps is he brings a bit on innovation running between the wickets. He is literally a batter than can turn those 1s into 2s, 2s into 3s and i wouldnt be surprised if he has a track record of turnings 3s into 4s all-run.

I can imagine the year its 2040 and in a white ball format, more batsman will use this stance in terms of starting their runups.

Reading alot of comments by Indian media, fans- the general gist is they dont really care how they are perceived after winning this tournament. And the worst thing , is they will pinpoint how other teams were advantaged in prior tournaments to back up their advantages at this tournament. It does seem a tad odd to me.

like what and which tournament(s) specifically?

Saw an Indian post claiming India were disadvantaged at the 2023 World Cup because they had to travel the most kilometres out of any team (they hosted the tournament).

Genuinely ridiculous

David Miller who is one of the more fairer cricketers in world cricket, just stating out some facts. Read the comments from the Indian fans as proof that they don't see the same view and will bring their own excuses:

Miller got more flak for supporting NZ in the Final too.

India have a bizarre fandom.

An absolute powerhouse who always want to stack the deck in their favour (see selective pitch watering et al) and can't comprehend how the rest of the world laughs at them even when they come up trumps.

It must be a cultural thing where they think they are being clever and can't understand why everyone else thinks they are pathetic.

The stupid part is they are/have been good enough to handle any side and beat them handily on their own merit and this would give them the approbation that they desperately seem to crave. Minnow mentality putting the handbrake on a juggernaut.

I can respect Mohammed Shami for at least acknowledging India had an advantage that no other team had. That was too difficult for the captain, the coach, Mr Optical Illusion himself and their fans.

I won't tar all Indian fans with the same brush but I sense many of them believe that what we see as India getting preferential treatment nowadays is payback and karma for when they felt like they were getting picked on by Australia and England way back when.

If they wanted people from outside India to respect them for winning this tournament, acknowledging the advantages they've had would be a start.

Anyone see the photo of Rohit Sharma with Jay Shah? Wouldn't get that in any other professional sports competition, which sums it pretty well

Damien Martyn back in the day when he pushed the BCCI stage off the podium.

If any of the Aussie players did that to Jay Shah- they would get their IPL contracts ripped off straight away and slandered by Indian fans /media given how much social media has advanced compared to 20 years ago.
