Saw chad Jones in action today and he reminded me a lot of Scot Welsh the way he moved. Perhaps he is a bit quicker than Scotty, very quick of the mark good football brain and sure hands. Overall very impressive and will put pressure on Sav and will be a great foil for Drew.

As for the game I thought we controlled it for most of it with Corey playing well in the ruck along with Hale. I sat colse to the coaches box and it was interesting to hear Laidleys comments about Harro. He really was vocal about him running hard and getting his hands on the ball. I think the kid has something special about him and will excite in the future.

Thought the lesser lights played well like watson on a wing, michael stevens in a back pocket and brown on the foward line.

Overall I think we have a lot to look forward to

Cheers Roobob. Great to hear about Chad Jones playing well and Laidley's comments about Harris.

One question:
How did Petrie go?

Cheers Roobo did Corey time his leap alright? And just one more ,was aWatson left on yhe ground and did he win much of the ball?If Chad is quick like Welsh and 196cm we might have something to look forward to hopefully.Bring on round 1 i cant wait!.

I thought drew did well a chf, kept the ball in the foward line well.
Brought the ball down a number of times, not taking a lot of marks, but who does now a days at chf.
If we can deliver the ball a little bit better into the forward we will trouble a lot of sides with our height and quick small guys like harvey and harding

Maaaaaaaaaattttttttttttteeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CHAD JONES!

Just love the look of this bloke, ive seen him 4 weeks in a row now at either Kangas,intra-club or Port Melbourne and i can tell you if you didnt see him tonight at Optus, you will get plenty more chances.
I liken him to more like a thinner not as bulked up Petrie, the two look similar ,i had to look twice a few times this arvo thinking it was Petrie.
He is tough and strong at the ball, good hands and the one thing he has been doing that i am impressed with is that he hits packs at 100 miles an hour, spliting them open for crumbers.
What was the opinion of his "HANGER" in the 1st quarter,by everyone here?
I just have to ease up here,i must remember he has only been here for 6 months, and hasnt played a home and away game yet,but we all know what its like to see potential stars of the game.

I thought Corey was easily the best big man when he was on the ground, moved well looked confident and held his marks. Will play at full foward and in the ruck when we come up against mobile ruckmen like White and Goodes
Watson played most of the game on the wing and I think he has someting to offer.

Heard a lot of 'Shouldn't have been drafted' comments after draft day from WA fans who follow a bit of WAFL, but I just decided not to comment, considering I don't follow the WAFL at all, and I really hope Chad Jones steps up and makes it because if a 196cm Wicketkeeper is as agile as I've heard, very exciting times.

Don't know what the hanger was like Roo9699, what was it like?:D And in the first qtr too:D

Sounds a bit like Petrie/Tarrant- Petrie like height with Tarrant like lead speed... mix in strong hands, hard work and accurate kick.. danger.

Where did he play HFF? Who was he on?

Go Roos

Oh bugger forgot to ask the two most important questions;

- Will he play against Fremantle next Saturday in Mandurah so I can see him take them apart.
- Will he play Round 1?

GO COREY!! It is SO good to hear that he is playing well.. so did Hale ruck most of the time with Corey at FF? (What a setup that could be.. Corey, Petrie, Jones {Chad} with Motlop, Jones {Corey} SHarvey, JClayton & Harding as smaller forwards.. mix in midfielders.. nice mix)

Edit: Thought I better not write another post.. Benno- I hope he plays at Mandurah and in Rd 1 {And kicks a couple of goals in both.. and another couple of hangers would be good;) ) Doesn't sound like his lack of body worried him too much:D

And Petrie/Jones dominating Fwd 50 (Got to add in Corey McKernan here) would be very sweet indeed.

I though his HANGER was amazing for a bloke of his size, the north fans around me were amazed and he went back and kicked the goal into the breeze at the heatley stand end.

yeah benno87.

Im tipping you will be able to see him next week in WA,no reason why he shouldnt,if it was a home and away game he would have earned his spot - he played the 4 quarters tonight.
As for round 1 ....well personally i would play him in the square, with Corey and Drew at centre half forward, just like it was today for the 1st half.

Tashibatts,
The mark by Chad Jones was in a pocket,in front of the Carlton Social Club about halfway through the first, think Craig Bolton had him for most of the day.

Thankyou:D

Its friday, Chad Jones has had a good debut, the Roos have beaten Sydney, Corey McKernan played well.. and its a long weekend.. the only problem at the moment is Motlops shoulder:(

I watched the Syd game from the Heatley stand and the impressive thing about Chad's hanger was that he virtually hnd no run up, his vertical leap from a stand start was amasing.

I think I may have jokingly likened him to Mal Blight at some stage, this may now not be as funny as I thought.

Thought of another possibility, is there any comparison to be made between Kepler Bradley and Whippet?

Kepler is 196/90 (according to his profile) and the main thing that stood out about him to recruiters was his athleticism etc for a big bloke..

Chad is 196/88(ish) and sounds like he has just as much athleticism/pace etc..
