Going to Perth for a bucks weekend in the middle of October.
Never been to Perth before, always wanted to go.

What are some of things to do in Perth, other than the obvious (drinking).

Fremantle, Rottnest, Mandurah?

Would there be any horse racing on?

Is Fremantle or the Perth CBD good to go out at night?

Any help is appreciated.

The Shed is a good pub. Very good set up.

I had a bucks day last weekend and we did a big bus crawl through the swan valley going to the majority of brewerys. Was a top day !

You're from Geelong, go to the Odin Tavern in Balcatta, you'll fit right in. :thumbsu:

What's wrong with the Odin Tavern  Have you been to Perth in the last 15 years?

That's what I did for my Bucks day earlier this year. We hired a bus then went to the Great Northern Distillery, Feral Brewery, Mash Brewery, Elmars and Ironbark Brewery.

It was a great day!

Yep, i deffo remember going to Mash and Elmars and finished at Feral.

I know we did at least another 2 but cant remember what they were called.

Was a great day (10.00am - 6.00pm) and then back to house for more drinks and activities :thumbsu:

This sounds good. :thumbsu:

Did you guys go through a company to do this or did you hire the bus yourself?

How close are these breweries to perth CBD?

I'm sure you can organise a bus (don't know how or with who) but the breweries are in the swan valley about 25 minutes from Perth. I live upthe road from the Ironbark can't believe the number of bucks parties that are held there.

Ferals have the best beer but Duckstein's the best pub

prost

I might be very wrong and different but i didnt find the duckstein to be the best. I cant even remember what the 1st brewery we went to was called but it was the best of the day. (maybe cause there was a group of 30 hens there at same time :thumbsu:)

Feral was a good brewery to finish the day.

Organise a bus and it picks you up and drops you off at all the breweries. All in the swan valley so there is not alot of distance to travel.

Hmmm... go to Perth and the best recommendation is a bus tour through the Swan Valley which is 45 minutes+ from the CBD. Says it all really... also check what day you are coming, Perth shuts at about 6pm most days of the week.

And yes, I am from Perth,.....

IMHO the best thing you could do is organise the Bucks night almost anywhere else. ;)

Ha! i've heard about the early closing times... surely the pubs are open late though...
Is Rottnest any good? Is there much to do? Am i scraping the bottom of the barrell? :D

Ignore Eagle87. Since he left Perth, he considers himself a sophisticate. It is a 20 minute drive from Perth to The Swan Valley as a previous poster stated.

If you are interested in Little Creatures, it would be worth considering that Fremantle is a good place for a walking pub crawl. Little Creatures, The Sail and Anchor, The Norfolk and Monk's are all in close walking distance and my favourite, Clancy's Fremantle is only another ten minutes walk. The night clubs in Fremantle are terrible, but Little Creatures loft which is right next door to Little Creatures is a great spot.

There are also plenty of good eating spots but it is a lot more expensive than Melbourne to eat out. I organised a buck's night last year and we ate at Outback Jacks. It was not my idea but the best man wanted me to organise a steak restaurant and it was actually really good. They had us in a separate room too.

The girls went on a river cruise then we all met up at The Sail and Anchor as our last spot.

The Swan Valley brewery cruise sounds good though.

Hope it all goes well.

Thanks buddy.

The brewery tour sounds good in the Swan Valley.
There's a company (Beer Nuts) that has tours with mini bus pick up from about $70. (Without lunch or drinks ) A bit expensive, but could be good.

Fremantle pub crawl sounds good. Maybe do that during the day. I heard that Little Creatures Loft has some bands on some nights...could be worth a look.

Never been to WA, so looking forward to it. The weather should be starting to heat up too around late October.

If you are in Fremantle and looking for live music try Mojo's, Swan Basement and the downstairs area at The Norfolk.

As for restaurants in Fremantle Aubergine does a great breakfast/lunch as does George st Bistro in East Fremantle. Maya and Gypsy Tapas are great for dinners.

The couple of good pubs have already been listed above.

Apart from those and a couple of places the food in Fremantle is generally pretty bad and overpriced. That said the food at Little Creatures and Clancy's is ok:thumbsu:.

When I am debating with people who think a walking pub crawl is a good night out then frankly Jim I am a sophisticate. :D

The CBD to the Swan Valley is 20 minutes? Really Jim? Must have one of those Maloo Utes or some other such vehicle.....

Look, compared with almost anywhere, for a really fun night out without much chance of aggravation, Perth is very low on the list.

If a pub crawl through the Swan Valley is anyones idea of a great night out then Perth is probably entirely decent.
