I could understand Thomas or Thompson being on the receiving end but Petrie! the Big Friendly Giant.

Lake was making him look like Lockett, I'd lose my shit as well. But, I am not a professional footballer.

Extremely dangerous, that is not a good look for him.

Hate to say this, but strangling a player....norf should push the issue on this one
They might not want to just in case somebody looks too closely at Petrie's eye gouge.

A pity Petrie couldn't get Brad Scott out there to protect him.

Seriously there was nothing in it, just a bit of roughhousing that has been part of footy since Noah played CHF for Jerusalem.

Play on.

Really not a good look. But either is this thread.

I think its just a case of Petrie getting into his head and Lake lost the plot. Petrie played it smart and that was the turning point for the Roos in the 3rd quarter which set up their lead.

I think Hodge's late hit on swallow was more of a gutless dog act in all honesty. It might be legal but gutless.

Show of strength where lake got carried away.

All this "extremely dangerous" hysteria drives me nuts. If Petrie misses a few weeks because of a throat injury then sure, go crazy.

Fact is he was up and about and running around kicking goals immediately after.

Also with the eye gouging hysteria, it was a bit of scratching across the face. Yes it drew blood but so does sliding across the ground on a dry track.

The biggest damage here was to hawthorns team morale. Seeing a guy lose his cool shook us up and we took our eye off the ball. We've got to be better than that.

As for suspension - if a guy gets 2-3 weeks for dishing out an injury so bad that his opponent plays out the rest of the game unimpeded then I think we're overstating the danger of an act.

Of course we could go down the track of suspending people on the 'potential' of their actions. Hopefully this happens and we see 4-5 attempted striking charges each week. Would be great, wouldn't it?
