I reckon with Arch returning that Jess will greatly benefit from this and get back to playing with some of that flair we saw of him last season.

Jess IMO is a faster version of Teague ...180cm(JS) 186cm(DT)
reason to believe JYD had Jess cover HB rather than Teague.

Jess does not put the body on the line like Teague does. He has modelled himself like Archer and will go in hard for the ball even if it as the risk of personal injury.

Jess is a runner and has very good foot skills but he never will be a great defender because he doesn't have the same ferocity and reckless attack on the ball. He is a Very different player.

Fair call Tas BUT in my determination of saying that Jess is a faster
version of Teague isn't necassarily about the 'body on the line stuff' as we all know Jess isn't scared to apply himself like Teague who does it more often but the way Jess can play Teague's position and still be effective by using the ball and moving faster
in situations as these break-down points were Teague's downside.
I still think Jess can be a reasonable defender if he took his 2003 approach and bounce (literally) from his opponent at the contest.
