Agreed, the stakes are pretty simple once you get the hang of them, even the highest stakes with lesser decks.

Balatro is without a doubt my GOTY for 2024. And it's miles in front of anything else. Can't wait for more content.

I'd absolutely recommend to complete all the stakes, don't stick to white. Once you get a knack for the game and what's possible it is very easy to progress up.
100%

I've challenged myself to win with every deck on every stake. Going to take ages but I love the game so much.

After a decently solid week I'd have to say yes this game is definitely in the conversation for GOTY.

Only beaten 5 desks so far, something clicked for me last night and finally beat blue and this morning red. Prior to that it was only green, yellow and ghost as I found their starting bonuses better for me.

I have a basic knowledge of poker and TBH I don't really concentrate enough to think about what cards I've played and what's still in the deck and that's probably my biggest downfall (I know you can access them in the options but even then I don't think about the probability etc). I'm not really built like that but feel like I've got a bit more of a hang of things now to be able to beat the other decks.

Anyway I'd give this game a solid 10/10.

Been playing on mobile the last few days too. Good little time waster for when I can't jump on the PC or PS5. It's fun and addictive, but isn't remotely close to GotY contention.

Beaten 3 decks so far. Last one had a great build. Egg Joker, which gained $3 in sell value each round, another joker which converted all jokers' sell value to mult, then another joker which replicated the joker next to it. So I had an ever increasing multiplier throughout.

It keeps you on your toes though, you can have an OP build, then all of a sudden you get a round where you get nothing that hits your build and you just bomb out.

I'm absolutely stumped trying to clear blue stakes. I've got a few decks up to it but I think I just need to persist and hope that eventually RNGesus blesses me with the right jokers. I thought the checkered deck would be the answer because I can start scaling and smashing straight flushes early but just haven't been able to trim it enough to play them consistently and usually bomb out by antes 7 or 8. That one less discard is a bigger handicap than what it first sounds like as it's pretty hard to dig for your main hand. I know I need to build around a smaller hand but it's just getting the right jokers early enough to begin min/maxing. My closest was with Wee Joker but just fell short. I absolutely love that joker. I smile when I see Wee. Still haven't been able to pair it with Hack yet though.

Rock the yellow deck, always easiest to clear high stakes. Flushes don't scale all that well.

Flush deck was my first to clear all stakes, mainly because it's so braindead and you have the path set out.

Feel like the scaling limits only really matter for endless anyway.

Straight flushes not flushes.

Yellow works so well because cash is king to get setup fast in the early rounds. It's quite doable to beat any stakes with just high card or pair with investment early, and you don't have to worry about drawing cards during a round that way. Keeps you alive longer to make your run with RNG on jokers and tarots.

I liked yellow because I get my economy going quicker. It was my favourite deck for a while for that reason and the first I got to blue stakes. It really helped with setting up in the first two antes but by 4 or 5 I start to miss the interest. I find I really need to get something like rocket when I'm using gold.
