I was just listening to the hawks club song after they beat Brissy and it reminded me of Roger Ramjet.

Roger Ramjet lyrics
Roger Ramjet and his Eagles
Fighting for our freedom
Fly through and in outer space
Not to join him but to beat him.
Roger Ramjet he's our man
Hero of our nation
For his adventure just be sure
And stay tuned to this station.
Come and join us all you kids
For lots of fun and laughter
As Roger Ramjet and his men
Get all the crooks they're after.
Roger Ramjet he's our man
Hero of our nation
For his adventure just be sure
And stay tuned to this station.
I was wondering what the similarities were and found out that both songs are sung to the tune of "Yankee Doodle".
Now why the hell would an Aussie footy team base their club song on an American tune?
Hawthorn Hawks Club Song
(To the tune of Yankee Doodle Dandy)
We're a happy team at Hawthorn
We're the Mighty Fighting Hawks.
We love our Club, and we play to win,
Riding the bumps with a grin (at Hawthorn).
Come what may, you'll find us striving
Team work is the thing that talks,
One for all and all for one
Is the way we play at Hawthorn.
We are the Mighty Fighting Hawks

I actually like the Hawks lyrics but the fact that it's based on an American tune is a bit annoying.
